Wednesday April 27
Sometimes I do not understand why I make the choices that I do. My editing class on Wednesday was optional, so pretty much every other college student in the world would have just not gone. But I was like, hey, I'm not doing anything, maybe I will get something out of going to class. 4 other girls in the class thought the same thing. We all expected the class to be cut pretty short since there were so few of us, but we ended up staying there for like an hour and a half, just talking. So it was chill. But I also could have been chillin' on my couch like a normal student. But oh well, my professor did say that she took note of who came to class and if we are on the brink of a better grade she may consider that we came to class when we didn't have to. So it was a good decision after all.
I went to the newsroom after class and it was a real great night at the newsroom for a couple reasons 1) I cleaned out the entire photo desk. It is no longer a clustered desk on which I lose everything. 2) The news desk had a final news meeting and it was a pot luck... and they brought A TON of food, so I got dinner (and breakfast, and lunch the next day) from the news reporters #thanksguys, and 3) I came up with a genius cover for the commencement issue of the paper, I'm so excited for it guys, I'll post a picture on here when it gets published.
Thursday April 29
Second-to-last day for all my classes except one, so that's exciting. In my broadcasting class we were filming ourselves as anchors for our final project... and let me just tell you... I am born to be BEHIND the camera. It's the most awkward thing in the world being an anchor, I give so much props to Will Ferrell for doing it so flawlessly in San Diego.
Third-to-last production! I have been getting home earlier and earlier with every production that I do, so that's fantastic. I don't think anything particularly exciting happened during production, but nothing bad happened either so I am satisfied.
When I got home I found a letter from Cob on my bed! I was so psyched, I miss that kid. He's the best. He drew a pretty sweet picture of the Fam, so I'll share that with all of you haha:
Friday April 29
I woke up early in the morning and dragged Steph along with me to take Rachel's pictures. Unfortunately the session was cut short because I had to go to work, but we got a decent amount of pictures out of it, and we will being doing round 2 sometime soon.
After taking some pics I went to work, hanging with Chase is always a good time.
Then I went to devotional where we talked about my favorite people, the FLDS, and got to share my experience of going to Colorado City....lol.
Then Steph and I went to Costa Vida since there was no dollar lunch
And then I pretty much just chilled at my house and the newsroom for the rest of the day because my Friday nights are always poppin'.
Saturday April 30
What a glorious day April 30 was. It was the day of the chipotle cultivate festival, or chipotlella as Ej likes to call it. Steph, Caroline and I drove up to Scottsdale around 9:30 and met Zach and EJ at the festival. Since Caroline, Steph and I went to the festival last year, we were pretty much pros of navigating the festival and getting lots of free stuff. We went through the stations 3 times to get free meal coupons, and were super sneaky and kept getting the free chips and guac coupons from the entrance. We also got some free Izzes and lots of chip with guac on it. We timed ourselves pretty well so that we could hear the musicians that we wanted to hear.
Unfortunately the festival closed early due to rain so we were unable to see Echosmith and Young the Giant, but we did get to see Betty Who and Lukas Graham (and the very sexual man that he is) so I was satisfied with the music.
When they announced that they would be closing early, it was like a zombie apocalypse of people running out of the festival. But being the free loaders that we are, we went to try and get more coupons.
In total I got SIX free meal coupons and two free chips and guac coupons. So even though I was robbed of seeing Echosmith and Young the Giant, I'm really not complaining.
This was my card for the photo scavenger hunt people could do on the app in order to win free chipotle for a year.
this is supposed to be gif but it's not moving so that's sad
Betty Who
This girl in the tie dye shirt was only wearing a thong under the shirt... it was quite the show
On the way home from the festival we stopped in Casa Grande to obviously... eat some Canes.
Then for the rest of the night I did some photo work and then went to sleep.
Sunday May 1
Sunday was out of the ordinary for a Sunday because I had to work, bleh.
So at noon I had to go to the newsroom for budget, then I started getting the photos together.
Then at 1 I went to church, but I only went to Sacrament meeting.
Then at 2, while I am still in church, I get a text from Sam asking if I was going to show up to my interview for fall photo editor. I thought I signed up for 5 pm, but alas I did not. So I almost had a panic attack, but it's okay because we rescheduled to 5.
Then after church I went back to the newsroom to work.
I had my interview at 5, it went well... I think.
Then I went home for a little bit, made some eggs, then went to the devotional with Steph.
I had to leave in the middle of the devotional because I forgot to turn a photo in for the paper, but I made it back by the time the devotional ended, and I got to eat some Klondike bars.
Monday May 2
Monday could have been just like any other Monday work day... except it wasn't.
So Michelle usually keeps her work pants and her work shoes in the office so she never forgets them at home. Her boss is really strict about being in uniform, and doesn't let her work if she doesn't have it.
So she thought her last day at her internship was last Wednesday, so she took all her work stuff home. Little did she know (even though I reminded her multiple times) that her last day was actually going to be Monday. So she didn't bring her work uniform, so she couldn't work. So from 11-2 we were free agents. But three hours of free time isn't bad.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE. The workability class that I go with her to was cancelled, but her ride was still coming at 4:30. So that meant from 11-4:30 we were free agents. That's quite a long time.
But it was a good time, I used my first chipotle coupon, we sent emails, I did some homework, and we went to the rec center pool even though it was a thousand degrees outside and neither of us had swimsuits.
After working with Michelle I went to the newsroom to finish up editing the photos for the day.
And then it was our last eboard meeting. But it was a great last meeting because we got a picture of this semester's editors, and we celebrated a semester well done at Gentle Ben's with some appetizers.
I am very grateful to have been a part of such an amazing board of editors at the Daily Wildcat. These people made my first semester of editing, a super fun awesome... sometimes stressful... time.
After eating some food at Ben's I went over to FHE where there a dance going on for all the singles wards and the BYU singers that were in town... except the BYU singers were totally lame and didn't even dance when I was there. But it was fun anyway.
Tuesday May 3
The last day for most of my classes!
In my app class we presented our app in front of the class and some judges. A girl in my group named Jessica, made shirts for our team, it was pretty awesome. So even though we didn't win for best app, we won for style.
In Institute we finished the New Testament, so that was a party fun time.
In Broadcasting we watched everyone's final project... except not mine, THANK GOODNESS.
In my DC class we had an ice cream sundae party. I brought root beer to the party but no one brought cups, so I had a two liter of root beer with me at the newsroom for the last production night.
Production was a piece of cake, I got everything done by pretty much 7 pm, but i hung around a little longer. There was pizza so I didn't have to buy dinner, and there was my root beer.
The only bummer thing about that night was that Maddy invited me to go see The Band Perry with her, and I couldn't go #crycrycry, but I'm over it... maybe.
When I got home, I started doing homework and then Annabeth came with Jordan and her niece and they started to pack up pretty much the remainder of her stuff. It is going to be so weird not having Annabeth around anymore... it's even more weird that her half of our room is completely empty, it freaks me out.
Wednesday May 4
May the Fourth be with you
Today is actually the last day of classes. It doesn't feel real to me that this semester is almost over. I only have one final to take and then I am going to be done, and I only have one semester left WHAT IN THE WORLD, HOW IS THAT SERIOUSLY POSSIBLE?!
Work was fun because it was the peer mentor celebration. It was also really sad because it was a farewell to SEVENTEEN peer mentors and three of my bosses who have been there for almost my entire time working at Project FOCUS. It will be really weird having so few people working next year, but I am happy the program can continue for one more year so all the remaining students can graduate (also happy cause I can still be employed)
My final class was really boring, and a waste of time pretty much. But it's okay because I never have to go back to that class ever again.
I just got a phone call that I got the photo editor position for the fall, so party fun time I am doubley employed once again!
