First Day of School for the Kiddos

School doesn't start for a couple more weeks for me, but the anticipated first day of school has arrived for the two youngest children of the Richardson household. McKenzie is starting her senior year at Desert Ridge High School, and Avery is starting Pre-School at Canyon Rim.

My mother is going to Canada tomorrow for about a week, so I will be stepping into the "mother" role and driving these kiddos to and from school... which means waking up at 7 to drive McKenzie to school. Luckily Avery doesn't start pre-school until 11, so there is some sleeping in time there.
Moral of the story, my parents are rock stars for always driving us to school (especially when we had A-Hour in high school).

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) for McKenzie all the spotlight was on Avery this morning since this is her first time going to an actual school. She was very excited and only got nervous when we arrived at the school. I think my mom took it harder than Avery.

McKenzie is super cool and gets out of school at 12:30, so we all got to go pick Avery up from pre-school. McKenzie got very nostalgic as we roamed the halls of Canyon Rim (I had my nostalgic moment when I took Avery to meet her teacher on Tuesday). We are the only three Richardson's to attend Canyon Rim, so a picture was necessary.
This was from Tuesday night, I went to go find my 6th grade tile that I made in 2007. The funny thing is that I was obsessed with volleyball back then... but I am literally the least athletic person ever.

Since we didn't get pictures of McKenzie before school, we of course had to get some after school. Avery wouldn't let McKenzie steal ALL of her spotlight

I have always been a big fan of the first day of school, and for the first time it didn't feel weird to me that I am not going to the high school this year (it only took two years after graduation to get there). This first day of school made me a little bit sad because that means summer is soon coming to an end, but I am excited to be going back to Tucson in a couple weeks and be reunited with the beezies and the other T-Locs.
