But let me back track to when I returned to my lovely home of Tucson.
Steph and I drove back together on Monday afternoon after I said my goodbyes to my family and my boyfriend, and ate panda express. We were anxious to get back because we would have a new roommate Heather (I will probably do an introductory post to her when we are actually in the same room for more than ten minutes). Unfortunately, when we got there, the house was barren and neither Heather nor Annabeth were there to welcome us. But that was okay because Steph and I were able to unpack and run errands in a sufficient amount of time so that I was able to watch the college football championship and watch my second favorite team lose to Ohio State.
On Tuesday I woke up rather early to go to work at Project FOCUS. It was orientation for the students so it was really rather boring and all things I have heard many other times as the semesters have come and gone. It was also very hard for me to pay any attention to what was going on because I was so nervous. Why was I nervous you might ask? Because right after work at Project FOCUS I had a job interview at the Daily Wildcat to be a photographer. Luckily my nerves were all but pointless because when I went in for my interview the lady said "Oh we already hired you, this is just to get you all set up". That's right people, you are reading the blog of the Daily Wildcat's newest photograph... such a prestigious job title I know ;) but I am really excited for this experience. Also really excited because I have a press pass and I feel super official.
Now Wednesday was when school started. But let me just tell you about the awful schedule I have ahead of me. Don't get me wrong, I love my classes and I am very excited to no longer be taking Gen Eds. My problem with my schedule is the horrid times. Many of you may know that I am very much a morning person, and I would take an 8 am class every day if I had the choice. Unfortunately all of my classes are in the late morning/afternoon/night. Definitely not my ideal times. On Monday/Wednesdays I get to go home at 6 and on Tuesday/Thursdays I get to go home at the awful hour of 7. Fridays are nice because I am off at 3... but really what college student considers that early for a Friday.
Now you may be thinking this is awesome because I get to sleep in, well you're wrong. I have work at 8 am every single morning, up until I have a class. Also fun fact guess what I am doing at work at 8 am every single morning. I am supporting one of my students, Jacob, in SPANISH 101. Some of you may know that one of the reasons I took french in high school/college was to avoid speaking Spanish... now here I am in a Spanish class with my student, regretting never have learned any Spanish other than Hola and baƱo. Who knows maybe this is actually a really awesome thing for me.
So as you can see my lovely readers of my blog, I am on campus (not to return home at any point during the day) from 8 am to either 6 or 7 pm (depending on the day) WHAT A SCHEDULE AM I RIGHT. Hopefully I will get used to it and love it, but for now I am much less than pleased with the results.
Also in case you were wondering I also have two institute classes Mon/Wed @ 12 and Tue/Thur @ 2.
On a much more positive note I am excited for all of my classes. I am taking Photojournalism (I am MOST excited about that one), Reporting the News (this class is two hours long which is, well... long, but the teacher is super awesome, so I am excited) and Law of the Press (I am currently waiting for that class to start so I don't know how I feel about it besides it being so late) for my major. And for my minor I am taking International Relations (my professor looks like a bear and it amuses me) and Government and Public Policy (with a professor I had last semester who gave me my only B... not too happy about that one.... but the class does seem to be much easier).
I have also found friends in my classes who make my schedule a little bit more bearable.
Cheers to the new school year!
Also, today is a bittersweet day, today is mine and Zachary's official one year anniversary but I am in Tucson and he is in Mesa #crycrycry. Thank goodness we celebrated on Saturday though (refer to last blog post)
