At 8 AM, Zach had a work meeting so I decided to be super sneaky and leave my surprise gift for him in his room while he was there. My mom helped me come up with this awesome idea of getting balloons and attaching photos from the year to the bottom of each one. The plan was to have twelve balloons (one for each month), but as life goes one popped and I was left with eleven. The idea was cute nonetheless and it ended up looking awesome. I also gave him a picture frame with two pictures in it, one from his graduation and the other of the route from my Tucson home to his home here in Mesa, because you know long distance and stuff.
Fun Story: As my mom was helping me think of ideas for the surprise, she asked me what mine and Zach's "phrase" was like in The Fault In Our Stars they say "always" or "okay" (I laughed as if couples actually do this). The only "phrase" I could actually think of was something that I sleep texted him many moons ago (for those of you who do not know, I am notorious for sleep talking and sleep texting), and that phrase was "erka erka shmerka". Then it kind of became a thing to make fun of me and I guess it became a "phrase" for us.
After his work meeting I assumed he would go home and he would see the surprise in my room but instead he immediately picked me up and we went to IHOP for breakfast. I then had to figure out how I was going to get him to go into his room to see the surprise before the helium gave out in the balloons (but luckily I paid a little extra to give the balloons extra life).
After we went to breakfast, I decided it was necessary to go back to his house to recover from such a large breakfast. I hoped maybe he would have to go into his room for one reason or another so I wouldn't have to force him into his room. His mom even said things like "you need to clean your room" or "you need to get clothes out of your room" (I don't know if she was trying to help me out or if she really just wanted him to do those things). Nevertheless, he did not go into his room, so I eventually had to oh so casually force him in there. I initially did not want to be there when he saw it (which is why I hoped he would have just gone home after his work meeting) but his reaction was priceless, so it was worth it.
Later we went bowling for a couple hours and since it was only the two of us we were able to get a lot of games in. I only beat him in one of the games, but my goal was not to beat him so much as to break 100... which I failed to do. I WAS TWO PINS AWAY!!!! Even though I did not accomplish my goal it was still a ton of fun especially watching him bowl left handed or on his knees or granny style.
After we went bowling we went back to his house and played some sort of Mario game that's name is too complicated for me to remember. Apparently I am a hoot to watch play because of how frustrated I get, but don't let that statement fool you... I am no good at that game. We also went to get Bahama Bucks (it amazes me that he never gets sick of shaved ice even though he is there practically every day) as per my request.
For dinner we went to Texas Roadhouse. We have been saying for months how badly we wanted to go to Texas Roadhouse but then every opportunity we had to go we decided we wanted something else instead. It was a great accomplishment for us to have actually gone there. The rolls were heavenly and so was the rest of the food... but especially the rolls. I just got an appetizer plate because I wasn't that hungry and he got a super delicious road kill steak. Since we stuffed ourselves with rolls we ended up with a lot of leftovers, which is always a good thing.
After dinner we went back to his house to watch a movie, but ended up watching the office instead... and by that I mean he watched the Office and I ended up falling asleep and then going home.
The end of the day is always so sad with Zach, but this one especially because it was our last date before I head back to Tucson tomorrow. Even though long distance (and I know living 110 miles apart isn't that long of a distance) sucks and I wish we lived in the same city... or county even, he's a rockstar and makes it all worth it. Here's to the next (365) days of Zachary!
