GRADUATION
The day finally arrived that 1320's dearest sweet Lauren graduated university and moved on with her life and leaving us all behind. I've been very blessed to have her as one of my roommates over the past year and a half. She is so kind and caring and is my "mom" of the house. She helped me adjust when I moved it and let me tag along every time she went to Mesa. She has been such a great example to me and I will forever be grateful for the impression she left on me. She's going to do amazing things in her life for sure! At her graduation she easily got the loudest cheer because she had so many people there to support her.
After the graduation her family treated us to dinner at Lauren's favorite, BJs. It was the last supper and it was delicious.
Winter Break
After dinner Rory, Steph and I headed home to Mesa and Rory shaved his beard into a mustache.
On Friday we drove Steph to the airport so she could fly home to San Ramon for break before she headed out to Texas for Christmas, super fun for her!
Also on Friday I hung out with Zach and Keaton. We played basketball, Mario Kart on the wii U and fed the ducks at the reserve.
When I got home, I discovered a dog that my family too in
We called him mange dog.
Saturday morning I went on a wimpy hike with Matt, EJ and Rory. We went on the hieroglyphics trail, which is my go-to hike because of how easy it is.
Saturday afternoon/night I went on a date with Zach. We first went to dinner at Joe's Farm Grill and then we went right next door to the Coffee Shop (I had no idea this place even existed) and got a vegan cupcake... it was surprisingly good. We then met up with Keaton and his date, Jacie, and saw the new Annie, and I absolutely loved it!
On Sunday I went to singles ward in Mesa for the first time! I usually just go to my parents ward, but since EJ goes there now I thought I would go and be his friend. It was like a high school reunion there, so many people I haven't seen since I moved to Tucson. I only stayed through sacrament meeting because the Waltons were picking me up to go to California!!
Disneyland
We arrived at Zach's grandparents house rather late, just for me and Zach to wake up bright and early to go to disneyland the next day. The plan was for us to be at disneyland from open to close (8 AM-midnight). We were spot on and got to the park right when it opened, and it was pretty barren. We were able to get on Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Pirated of the Caribbean, and Splash Mountain in a little over two hours. The park started to pick up in the afternoon and that's when the lines started to get longer but lucked out and didn't have to wait in very many lines at all. The longest we waited in line for a ride was It's A Small World (45 minutes).
We even went canoeing
We were able to double dip on splash and thunder mountain
Zach was a big trooper and helped me take pictures of the princesses in the parade so I could send them to Avery, and he was even more of a trooper and waited in line with me to meet Minnie and the Princesses.
Snow White had the most obnoxious voice
Cinderella rocked and let me record her saying a message to Avery. Avery watches the video non stop now
While we were watching the parade we discovered cool disneyland filters on snapchat
Later at night we found a spot to sit for Sleeping Beauty's castle to be lit up and for the fireworks. I fell asleep waiting for both, but was woken up in time to see them. We were in a super cool section where it "snowed" AKA it bubbled.
After the fireworks we went to get in line for the Finding Nemo ride but it broke down before we could get on so we decided to end the night an hour and a half early, but not before we took some concluding selfies...
Disneyland was the greatest gift and I'm so lucky to have been able to spend the day with Zach
On Tuesday I flew home by myself, slept for awhile, went shopping and that was pretty much it.
Christmas
On Christmas eve my family did their traditional blasphemous nativity scene. This year's nativity peaked in blasphemy and for the sake of my family's future, I cannot share the details. Don't worry though, we did the traditional nativity from the scriptures afterwards to remember the true meaning of Christmas,
After the nativities we opened up our pajamas and of course had to take pictures.
Afterwards we played Dutch Blitz as a family and then as per tradition the sisters made a fort in McKenzie/Avery's room and had a little sleep over.
We also had our traditional Christmas Eve dinner: Chicken Enchiladas.
My Dad woke up at 2 AM for Christmas and I believe all the children were up by 3 and my Mom by 3:30. We opened our gift and I got money to dye my hair, Just Dance 2015, new shoes, spending money, gift cards, candy, cosmetics and more. Rory was my secret Santa and got me a super awesome "Oh The Place You'll Go" poster/map. That's super perfect for me because I am obsessed with Dr Seuss. I got all that I asked for and more! It was definitely a generous Christmas.
After everyone opened their presents I went back to sleep, and woke up a few hours later to play Just Dance with EJ and McKenzie. I also played with Avery and all of her fancy new toys that she got for Christmas.
The rest of the day my family just spent at home cooking food and playing games as a family. It's not a super extravagant Christmas but it's perfect for us. At dinner we went around the table and talked about our favorite stories about Christ, it was definitely a good reminder that this time is not all about the presents and that we need to remember the true meaning of Christmas. I am very grateful for my Saviors influence in my life, He is the one thing that is always a constant in my life. I am thankful for this season that I am reminded of Him.
Krispy Kreme
On Christmas Eve I went in to get my winter job at Krispy Kreme and then I was scheduled to work today (December 26th) at 6 AM until 2 PM for processing. I'm always afraid whenever I go back that I'm going to forget everything I knew from years past and that I'm not going to know anyone there and it's going to be super awkward. Well there were a ton of new people so it was kind of awkward at first trying to explain to them how I'm not new but half way into the shift everything was normal again. Don't worry though I didn't lost any of my processing skills. I am very grateful for this job and that they are so willing to let me come and work during my school breaks, it's a great blessing.
