Let's start with my week(end) update.
Backing up to Friday night. There was an Institute activity called "Luau In The Desert" the desert being Sahuarita stake center. There were special hula performances and a catered dinner and at the very end a dance. It was a rocking good time but it was VERY hot in the building, I thought I was going to have a heat stroke.
The hula dancers had some awesome shaker things
They also had awesome light things
Steph was a doll and bought Lauren and I some hawaiian garb so we could dress the part.
Once we got a little too hot and tired Steph, Lauren and I left to go get some ice cream downtown at the Hub and explore downtown a little bit. It was a very interesting night, to say the least. All the cool cats are down on 4th ave on Friday nights.
On Saturday there was a football game DURING THE DAY, first one of the season. Day games are usually pretty hard to sit through. It was very sunny and hard to watch half the time but I got a nice farmers tan from it... and even an "A" tan due to the sticker on my face. IT WAS A GREAT GAME THOUGH. So intense. Football games are always fun but especially so when we win.
S/O to Susannah for the snapchat
Matt thought he would look cool if he sang while we took a picture... you decide
We all got our matching stickers
After the football game Steph, Lauren and I went to BJ's to celebrate Lauren getting a job in Phoenix. She is all grown up now and moving on to bigger and better things.
After dinner we got ready for Chloe's birthday party. The theme of the party was "Hipster or Homeless", you had to dress up as either one and then try to guess who people dressed up as. A majority of the party was dressed as hipsters, but Steph came in clutch with her homeless costume.
This is Steph trying to knock out the lens in my sunglasses for Lauren's hipster costume
I tried to edit this so much it could almost pass of as hipster
Sunday was the temple dedication in the morning. I was so happy I could go to this one since I was unable to attend the Gilbert one. I had seen the Gila Valley one prior to this so it wasn't a new experience for me but I loved all the messages that were shared. I especially love the President Monson because he is such a goofball. I can't help but smile when I look at him.
After the dedication Steph, Rory and I drove up to Mesa so I could celebrate my birthday with my family. It was a party with my whole immediate family, one pair of my grandparents, Steph and Zach. I always love the family birthday parties in my family. We always sit around the table and eat the persons favorite meal (mine is chicken enchiladas) and then we go around the table and say what we like about that person. Last year it was a crying fest so I was determined to not cry this year, and I succeeded. I think my favorite part of the party was the cake that McKenzie made for me and that Avery decorated with candles. You see, Avery put all the candles on one side of the cake and that's exactly how we lit them... Well all of them kind of combined and made a small fire on the cake. When I blew out the candles there was wax all over it. Very artsy.
Notice the fire
The aftermath
Me blowing out my 32 candles. Apparently 19 is the new 32.
After the cake we played phase 10 and at least tried to complete an entire game but then things like this happened...
Avery has no respect for personal space to say the least...
After the party it was time for us to go back to Tucson.
Today I had work all day and a work meeting. So that wasn't very fun. I also had FHE tonight and we played dodgeball and human battleship, and that was terrifying.
Over the weekend McKenzie brought my attention to this twitter account called meninst which is pretty much what they call the opposite of feminism. But it's stupid because feminism isn't even a man hating thing, it's not about bringing men down and raising women up. It's about equality for everyone! It's getting rid of the double standards that this meninst account keeps posting about. It's letting everyone be who they want to be, not being tied down by stereotypes.
Emma Watson my home girl is super rad and gave a UN speech about it. I strongly encourage everyone to watch her speech, and understand what true feminism is.
But if you aren't going to watch it because lezbehonest it's long here are a some of the quotes, relating to men specifically
So now this was my final blog post as an 18 year old. It's been quite a year being an adult. I still think I am 16 half of the time, the other half of the time I think I'm 40. I'm sure being 19 is going to be a super rocking fun time and I can't wait for all my many adventures that come along with being a year older.
Happy Monday everyone!
