I Come From the Land Down Under

Last night (Friday night) was the last night in Arizona for our dear Aussie friend Bekah Jo, so of course we had to throw a party for her, but not just any party... no no no... AN AUSSIE PARTY. So in order to create the theme of Australia, we (and by we I mean mostly Steph) made decorations and purchased many Aussie treats.

This one was my idea. I LOVE ginger beer and I knew we had to have it at our party. Since it is kind of expensive I didn't want to buy a bottle for every person that may or may not have been coming so instead we did ginger beer shots.

Steph made this freaking adorable koala cupcakes all by herself

She also made an Australia wall decoration but I failed to get a photo of it... but it may show up in some pictures to follow.

We also had some candies from Australia that Bekah picked out from World Market along with vegemite for some crackers. I didn't try the vegemite but a lot of people were not particularly fond of it.

So we started out the night with the hardest trivia game ever. Bekah Jo came up with around 80 questions of Australian trivia and most of us had no idea what any of the answers were so we would just yell out any Australian thing we knew "Keith Urban! Nicole Kidman! Air Supply! ACDC! Moulin Rouge! Echidna etc." I was able to get a couple of questions right with some those answers. 

After trivia we played a couple rounds of What Id and then there was some dancing and mingling and eating the delicious foods and of course... shots of ginger beer.

Then of course... a little bit of the ancient japanese art of Karaoke (name that movie)

So not many people were feeling Karaoke so we decided we should play a game. Matt introduced us to the most entertaining and hilarious game called Silent Football. It's kind of a confusing game but just so you can understand the insanity here were a couple of things that happened

1. We had to be silent and the only time we could talk was when we raised our hand and Matt called on us and we would have to start all our sentences with "Mr. Commissioner..." (Matt was Mr. Commissioner 
2. Aubrey Packer did not catch the ball on time or correctly so Mr. Commissioner put syrup on her hands so the ball would not slip next time
3. In order to practice teamwork David & Austin had to become one person, as did Tiffany & Sanahin

It would be much easier to understand these things if I had pictures, but Mr. Commissioner would not allow me to take pictures. But I did get pictures of one thing. The punishment for losing the game (getting 3 strikes) was to eat a spoonful of Veggemite. Unfortunately Annabeth is not much of a silent football player and had to take the punishment.

Probably not one of her favorite moments in her life.

After the game was finished Lauren and I left the party to head to Mesa for the weekend, so that concluded the party for me. 

It's been quite the adventure with Bekah Jo living as a 1320 beezie for a little over a week. So many fun adventures and it's going to be really weird not having her sleeping on our couch anymore.
