During the day she was out on a day-date for homecoming. She went go-karting and to a soccer game. In order to entertain myself for a few hours I decided to go surprise Zach at work (he didn't even know I was in Mesa). My original plan was to hide in his car when he got off work and scare the crap out of him, but there were some conflicting schedules so I just went in and surprised him instead. He had no idea I was coming and looked ecstatic so I would call that a success. I also brought Avery along so she could get her favorite banana shaved ice.
Then we went to go get lunch at subway before my Dad left for Tucson to go to the football game (he is questioning his quality as a father because I came home instead of going to the UA football game).
Eventually McKenzie came home and I was so dang excited because she was going to let me do her hair. Luckily the hairstyle I had in mind to do was the same one she was going to ask me to do, so no arguing there.
While I was doing McKenzie's hair, Avery wanted her hair done too. She wanted her hair like mine (which was just a lazy bun) so I put her hair in a bun and then she started to put on makeup with McKenzie.
I was so proud of my work with the hair and makeup, I made Kenzie pose for 1,000 pictures (without even having her dress on) but luckily for you all I narrowed those pictures down.
Then she finally put her dress on and then put earrings ons
Avery also wanted to put a dress on like McKenzie
When McKenzie had finished getting ready it was the time time to take some photos outside with our super hip lemon trees.
That McKenzie is so hot right now
For every one normal picture she had to take 20 weird ones
LOOK HOW ADORABLE SHE IS
Avery wanted in on the pictures so she worse Mom's shoes and started dancing with McKenzie
She was complaining that it was cheap that her homecoming was only a few weeks before she got her braces off
My super cute Mom and Sister
My masterpiece
We luv maxie pad
After the photoshoot outside we came back inside where Avery helped Zach get ready for the dance as well
She brushed his hair
And told them how to pose
The awkward prom pose
Eventually McKenzie's date, her bff Bryce Heslop, came to pick her up so it was time for the putting on of the corsage and stabbing of the boutonniere.
My mother came in to show McKenzie how to put it on without stabbing Bryce
This was Bryce's "I'm getting stabbed face"
(He did not actually get stabbed, McKenzie is a pro)
Once the flowers were properly placed on the correct body parts, it was time for them to head off, but not before I took more pictures of them (they will thank me someday for all these)
He was a super gentleman and opened the door for her.
And then they were off.
The rest of the night was spent between Zach and my family eating Sonic, watching movies and playing with an over-hyper Avery.
When I was in high school there were 3-4 dances a year, during my whole career there I only went to 4 dances (3 of them with actual dates) so I am living vicariously through McKenzie because she's hot and is going to end up with a date to all the dances.
Oh in case you were wondering how he asked her. They carpool to school everyday and one day McKenzie was saying how much she did not want to go to homecoming, and then later that night Bryce came over with her favorite doughnuts (from Bosa) and said "I know you DONUT want to go to homecoming but it would be SWEET if you went with me"
SO CUTE. Major brownie points to Bryce-cream.
