Happy summer days
Now to the good stuff. Last night August 8, 2014 Zach, Trevor, Emily, Kenzie, Kinlee and I attended the monumentour. Opening band: New Politics. Headliners: Paramore & Fall Out Boy.
Let me first start out with the disappointment that came over me before the show even happened. I wanted to take some really pretty pictures of the concert so I borrowed Belynda Heslops beautiful zooming lens JUST TO FIND OUT that removable lens cameras were not permitted inside the pavillion. I was devastated... so my IPhone was my camera for the night... depressing.
The drive to Phoenix wasn't too awful, and we went early enough that I didn't hit that much traffic. Once we got to Phoenix we decided to stop to eat because the food inside the pavillion was way too expensive, and then buy some bottles of water to take in with us because it was dang hot outside.
When we were parked in the lot we had to wait in a line for the gates to open for about 20 minutes, and during that time we got to see all the... interesting fans we would be jamming with that night (interesting is the only word that could possibly describe the many different people there).
Eventually we get inside and save our place with a blanket out in the lawn area. Before the headlining bands played I would say we had awesome seats for being in the lawn , but once they came on everyone somehow rushed in front of us, so even though we were in the exact same spot, it felt further back. But while we were waiting for the show to start, we of course had to take some pictures to prove that we did indeed actually go to the concert.
It was a little too sunny for McKenzie
Kinlee & Kenzie
When New Politics started playing, Zach didn't want to stand so he just laid at Trevor's feet

It was like a double date... but my sister was there... and Kinlee
They so cute
New Politics: I have heard a few of their songs prior to the concert and I thought they were pretty good live. Favorite song was probably Tonight, You're Perfect, it's a pretty cute song. Although, they were good, I honestly wanted their set to be over so Paramore could come on stage... oops.
Paramore: I LOVE PARAMORE! I've liked paramore since I was in the 6th grade and haven't stopped liking them since. Hayley Williams (the lead singer) is so dang talented (I thought I knew that before the concert but wow was she an amazing performer last night). One of the coolest moments was when she sang "The Only Exception" and everyone had their phones out swaying to the music. They had a LOT of confetti during their set but we chose a lame spot being about 200 feet from the confetti flying.
Fall Out Boy: THEY WERE AMMAAZZIIINNNGGG! I've loved fall out boy since the first time I sang Sugar We're Going Down on the American Idol game on my PS2.Their set had all my favorite FOB songs and even one of my favorite Queen songs: We Are The Champions. It's so hard to choose which song was my favorite from them... I'd say it was a tie between Alone Together & Sugar We Are Going Down. It was just a ton of fun jamming dancing to their timeless music.
After the concert was over it was just short of a nightmare getting out of the parking lot... but we made it out... I only yelled at like 4 cars. Th car ride home was very sad because everyone was tired, McKenzie even ended up falling asleep in the back. Have no fear though, I stayed awake and got everyone home/to their cars safely, go me.
It was really such an amazing concert and a good way to kick off my final two weeks here in Mesa!
