Wednesday August 13th, 2014 was my final shift at Krispy Kreme (for the summer, it's inevitable that I will be back there in December). I had a countdown on my phone for this day, I was so excited to go to sleep at 8 pm one last time (Tuesday night) and wake up at 4 am one last time (Wednesday morning). I knew it was going to be a good day by the fact that it was DOWN POURING by 5 am.
Rainy days are the best days... well except when you're working drive thru... like I was. I understand that the dear customers of Krispy Kreme do not want to get themselves/their car wet but I do not think that is a good enough excuse to only slightly crack open your window to order. I also do not like that you get frustrated with me when I cannot hear you through the crack over the down pouring rain. Oh and the BEST (sarcasm) part of being on drive thru on a rainy day is the fact that the customers will only roll down their windows slightly more than at the order board so I can hurl my entire body outside of the store to make sure that your doughnuts get inside your car without you or your precious interior getting wet.
But the rain only lasted an hour or two so I was good. Positives to my shift: my manager brought me a going away mountain dew, I worked with two co-workers that do not drive me insane and I got to take home 20 dozen doughnuts. Yes you read that correctly, 20 dozen (there was a mix up with an order pick up date). No, I did not eat all those doughnuts (in fact I probably only ate one single doughnut out of the 240). I gave 5 dozen to my mom to take to mutual that night, 2 dozen to Trevor because he so kindly asked for some doughnuts on my last day, 1 dozen for Jonah (Zach's little brother) because it was his birthday the day before, 1 dozen for the rest of their family, and the rest to Pam because I knew she would know who wanted dozens of doughnuts that day (congratulations the the staff of the elementary school that she chose).
It's always kind of sad when I clock out of my final shift and give everyone hugs, but that sadness only lasts for about 5 minutes before I am dancing my way out of the store rejoicing in my new found freedom.
A few hours after my shift Zach and I tried to go buy chicken fries that have recently returned to Burger King. We were very disappointed when they said they were out. But on the bright side of that situation, Zach was sporting a bracelet that McKenzie and Avery made for him.
Zach also decided to feed a stupid pigeon that appeared to be injured in front of my house.
By the way, Ninja Turtles is a really good movie, I highly recommend.
Thursday I had my final dentist appointment of the summer and that was super exciting except for the fact that there was a guest doctor in that day and he just caused a whole lot of pain for me, so that was not fun.
On Saturday I spent most of the day with my family shopping and was actually successful in buying a U of A shirt in the valley (it's very rare to see shirts here that aren't maroon and gold).
On Saturday night I was the bestest of friend to my buddy Keaton and helped him ask a girl to homecoming. In a span of 2 hours we were able to get a giant box, balloons, helium, string, paper, makers all for a total of one dollar and 50 cents (special shout out to bahama bucks and krispy kreme for their donations), and successfully asked his lady friend to homecoming (I know it was successful to to their girl screams coming from her house).
Now we have entered into my final week in Mesa. I'm moving back to Tucson on Thursday and can not be any more excited to see all my school buddies but especially the beezies at 1320, I'm so ready to party. I'm also extremely excited to start school now that I actually have a major and excited that the first football game is a week from Friday!
