Our flight to Great Falls, Montana left around 4 PM
While we were going through security and everything I was about to step into the scanner when the security guy asked me how old I was, to which I replied with my actual age (18) and he then responded with "why do you look 11?" I politely laughed but also gave him a major death glare in my head.
When the plane was taking off Avery kept saying "THIS IS SO AWESOME" over and over again, which had the ladies sitting around us cracking up.
Of course I had to take pictures of McKenzie sleeping on the flight
When we landed in Montana my Aunt Tobi and my cousin Emma were there to pick us up and drive us up to Lethbridge, Alberta where my grandparents, aunts and cousins live.
When they dropped us off at our grandparents house the first thing we wanted to do was go get a dozen honey cruellers from the oh so magical Tim Hortons.
After visiting with my Aunt Elin for awhile we all went to sleep
Day 2: Tuesday (Consumption of all things Canadian)
Our first task was to go to the mall to get Purdy's ice cream and Kernels popcorn
My cousin Emma enjoyed doing my sisters hair while my cousin Lizzie showed us her love for taking selfies.
Later my Mom picked us up and then we went to A&W. Now let me tell you about Canadian A&W... IT IS A MILLION AND TEN TIMES BETTER THAN IN AMERICA. I don't know what it is, but it's heavenly. Oh and they sell poutine there too... what's better than fast food poutine? Nothing.
Later that night I went with my cousin Mary Margaret to go buy things for a candy gram she was making for her grad date. One of our stops was to a gas station where I found MOUNTAIN DEW SUPERNOVA which is not sold in the States... I just about had a heart attack from my excitement.
After buying all the necessities (and yes the mountain dew was a necessity) we went to my grandparents house to make the candy gram
Day 3: Wednesday (New hair day and Mary-Margarets birthday)
My awesome Aunt Elin treated my mom and sisters to a day at the salon to do whatever we wanted to our hair.
While my Mom was getting her hair done, Elin, my sisters and I went to IHOP for some breakfast.
After some poor service and practically having to take everything to-go because of how long it was taking, it was all the girls turns to get their hair done. McKenzie and I both went a little more blonde, while Avery just got a cut.
Later we went over to my cousins house to celebrate Mary-Margarets 18th birthday!
It started out with a bar-b-cue, then smores and a movie!
I was my aunt Tobi's special helper since I didn't know anyone there besides my family. We proved women are just as competent as men with a mega staple gun and a coal fire.
Here were some of my favorite photos of that night:
Avery was our fitness instructor for the night
This is my uncle Sean who was the master griller for the night
I discovered that Lizzie was my mini me and I taught her my ways of being fabulous (mountain dew included)
The rocking birthday cake my aunt Tobi made!
Me and McKenzie rocking Emma's jackers
The party people
The birthday girl roasting her smores
My cousin Sam has this freaking awesome contraption called the cyco-cycle and ti became my new favorite thing
Day 4: Thursday (the day of movies)
Sometime on Wednesday Tobi was talking to me about these movies that I had never seen so she insisted that we would have a movie day on Thursday since I didn't have anything planned.
At their house we watched Prom & We Bought a Zoo and then later that day I went to go see Maleficent for the second time with my mom, aunt Elin, Uncle Sean, Emma, Sam, Kenzie and Avery. Since when is a day full of movie watching a bad thing? I loved it.
Oh and somewhere in between the movies I helped Mary-Margaret give her grad date the candy gram at his house, so that was a jolly good time. I also continued training Lizzie with my gorgeous "selfies" I took with her (I guess I can't really call it a selfie since their are two of us in the photo but oh well)
Day 5: Friday (The day of graduation)
In the morning my mom, grandpa, kenzie, Avery and I went to Mary-Margaret's convocation ceremony where Tobi deemed me to be the official photographer of the day.
Mary-Margaret gave a speech AND sang the national anthem, she's a rockstar.
After the convocation ceremony there was a lunch at Mary-Margaret's house. There was delicious food, delicious cupcakes (technically that is a food too), and some great times hanging out with my family and watching Rudy (their dog) eat McKenzie's food
After the movie Elin, Grandpa and myself went to the fancy party of graduation ceremony where all the graduated dress up, say toasts, walk down a run way, dance and eat. It's their equivalent to prom here in the states pretty much (except with family sitting in the stands and watching you... awka awkward).
Since I was deemed to be the personal photographer of the night, I was sent to the floor to make sure I got nice pictures of Mary-Margaret looking stunning while strutting her stuff down the runway
There was one graduate who I think had downs syndrome who totally stole the whole show that night. She was strutting her stuff down the runway with the most sassy walk down the runway topped off with the most fabulous poses for people to take pictures of her. She was awesome!
Day 6: Saturday (the day spent in my hometown)
I'm sure most of you know that I lived in Canada from when I was 2 years old to 9 years old, but I did not live in Lethbridge where the rest of my family lives, I lived in Calgary, and as much fun as the small town of Lethbridge is... I made sure that I was able to go to Calgary for at least one day. Since we could only spend one day there everyone (meaning me, my mom, elin, and kenzie) had to prioritize what they NEEDED to do whilst there. This was our list:
1: Visit the Davis': our amazing best friend family in which our family is practically parallel to theirs)
2: Go by our old house and school
3: Go to Chinook mall
4: Go to "My Favorite Ice Cream Shoppe"
5: Go to the Calgary temple
Unfortunately the Calgary temple was booted out of the trip because we didn't have enough time, but that's alright.
So when we first get to Calgary we go straight to the Davis' house. Some of you may have been confused as to what I meant by the parallelism in our families. Same amount of kids within each family and we all have someone who is close to the same age as us, even Avery! We were all the greatest of pals growing up too, we would always play our own version of Survivor, make obstacle course and of course play air hockey.
The two oldest in their family have moved out and were doing their own things on this day so it was Jessica (who is my age) Braeden (who is McKenzie's age) and Kara (who is Avery's age.. sorta) and of course Marina and Randy. But it was a great time chilling with them and throwing water balloons together. After we hung out with them for a couple hours we headed out but came back later for some dinner and more Richardson-Davids fun time.
We had about two and half hours to do everything we could before we went back to their house for dinner and we did it quite successfully (with the exception of the temple).
We went by our old house and discovered that the current residents painted it an awful brown color, and my mother started to cry.
Then we went to my our elementary school
We got some nice new Canada shirts at Hudson's Bay at Chinook mall and got some of the best ice cream in the world at My Favorite Ice Cream Shoppe
When we went back to the Davis' Avery and Kara played dress up and it was just about the cutest thing in the whole world
Day 7: Sunday (the day of laziness)
All I did on Sunday was chill at my grandparents house, watched some movies, packed a little bit and watched Big Brother.
Day 8: Monday (the day to return)
Since I couldn't miss out on too much work I had to come back to Arizona a few weeks earlier than my mom and sisters. So on Monday we drove up to Great Falls, ate at the delicious Mackenzie River Pizza Company, went to Target and then I went on my plane and was sent back to Arizona.
Now I'm glad to be back except for the fact that (I'm not sure many of you know this ) ARIZONA IS FREAKING HOT... oh and all my 5 am shifts that I have to do, to make up for me leaving for a week.
