June Shenanigans

June 9-12
McKenzie and my mother went to girls camp leaving my father and I to babysit Avery whilst the both of us were working. We managed to get through the week with a special thanks to Amy Edwards for babysitting Avery during the hours that both my Dad and I were working.
On one of my days off from work, Zach came over to help babysit Avery. He brought a pizza and a flower windmill for Avery (which she now uses as a weapon when she is angry). He ended up helping her to ride her bike. Before this day she could only do two full pedals on her bike, and now she's racing all around the house drifting around corners.
Avery also felt the need to teach Zach how to ride the bike and fight the monsters that were chasing them.
On a different day after I got off work we decided to switch things up a little bit, so Avery and I went to Zachs house... Where she developed quite the fancy for Zach as she would cuddle him on his couch and get mad if I tried to talk to him. Now she asks all the time for me to take her to Zachs house or to text Zach to come over when he gets off work... but she refuses to admit to her little crush.
During one of my shifts at Krispy Kreme that week I gave a tour to the most ADORABLE kids in the whole world. I taught them all about what we do at Krispy Kreme but they were too distracted with watching the doughnuts being made. At one point I asked them what kind of doughnut was their favorite and one kid said a doughnut with the spicy sprinkles... I'm not sure what doughnut shop in the world sells spicy sprinkle doughnuts but that kid was very excited about them.
At the end of the tour I taught them how to make sprinkle doughnuts, and it was the most adorable thing in the world watching their little hands attempt to make a doughnut. I fell in love with them.

Oh by the way to all my moms with little kids, Krispy Kreme does free tours so if you're ever stumped on what to do during these summer days, there's some entertainment for ya.

Finally June 12 rolls around and my mother and sister are back home from girls camp, relieving me from Avery duty. So what did I do to celebrate? I made dry ice bombs with Keaton and Cob while we were attempting to make a package for Sadie.

After we only really made one successful we went mini golfing with Zach.
Cob and Zach had this ongoing debate on who would win at mini golf (the answer seemed clear for me because Cob is a die hard golfer) but Zach talked up his game so it was interesting to see who would win. Well as suspected, Cob won but the funny part is that Zach came in last. I was overjoyed that I came in second... and probably more so that I actually beat Zach in something.
While we were golfing we enjoyed the company of many little toads and Cob was very good at catching them.

June 15-16
My Grandma "planned" really well for my Dad's birthday to always roll around (and sometimes on) Fathers day. My Dad isn't one to want a party all for himself or two days in which we shower him with how much we love him, instead, on Fathers day we gave him all his presents (including the birthday ones), did the Richardson tradition of going around the table saying one sarcastic thing about them and one thing we love about them and then on his birthday (the 16th) we just left him at home alone. That may sound negligent but that's what he loves, a day all to himself.
My Dad is one awesome dude... and I never hear the end of it... I heard it when I was in seminary from all my teachers(my dad is an institute teacher, and all the seminary/institute teachers in the district all apparently know each other), I heard it when he was my Bishop from all my ward leaders and friends, and above all else I hear it the most from him... He knows he's awesome.
Even though he sure can be full of himself, I am very grateful for having such a wise Dad who is always there to answer my questions about everything and doesn't expect me to have all of the same opinions as he does (even though they mostly end up being the same anyway).
He is UofA's number one fan and raised all of his kids right (so far) to attend his Alma Mater.
He is pretty hip with the times too, he has himself a twitter : @Drjayrich
So yeah I'm pretty lucky to have a Dad as cool as him.

June 19
The morning of June 19 was an interesting one... it was the day I got a root canal. FUN. In all honesty, root canals aren't that bad... unless you hate the sound of the tools they use. Fortunately, the sounds have no effect on me so I wasn't scared at all. The numbed up my mouth so I couldn't feel a thing, I could only hear what they were doing... it was a pretty boring 45 minutes ( It felt like 10 though because I am pretty sure I fell asleep.). But can you imagine holding your mouth open for 44 minutes?! My jaw was SO SORE... it still even is today. Thank goodness for ibuprofen.
I think my favorite part of the root canal experience was the fact the lower left side of my face was swollen, making my left cheek even bigger than it already is. I should have taken a picture, but I guess I was just too tired.
When I got home I took a nice uncomfortable nap on the couch but I was awake in time for Zach's mom and his brother Jonah to stop by my house with a sonic milkshake to celebrate my survival of the root canal. It was a fantastic surprise and honestly made my whole day.
After my cheek looked a little more normal I went to the mall with Zach and his brothers to buy shoes. But before we could get our shopping on, we of course had to stop and eat Chick Fil A where we received free clown noses and mints
After nourishing ourselves we made our way to the vans store. This was a very significant event because we actually ended up buying shoes. Why is this significant you might ask? Well in the two-ish years that I have been hanging out with Zach we have attempted to assist him in buying shoes MANY times... but he always (up until this day) backed out after trying on many different shoes. Oh not to mention on this day he bought TWO pairs of shoes.. never been more proud in my life.

Today (June 21)
I had work today from 7 am - 2 pm... wasn't much of an exciting shift and I was eager to get it over with because it was my last shift before I head to my home and native land on Monday! Anyway, once I got off work I wanted to celebrate so the sisters and I attempted to go swimming. Unfortunately our neighbors pool that we use was closed to public access today, and since we didn't have a vehicle to drive us to our other friends pools we ended up just going old school and playing in the backyard with a hose.

One of these days I will end up going swimming in an actual pool... just you wait.
