I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

For my english project we are doing a genre analysis of three movies and we have to analyze a common theme or aspect in each of the movies. For my project I have chosen to do the musical with an emphasis on the bohemian lifestyle. The three movies I am analyzing are Moulin Rouge, Across the Universe and RENT. In order to prepare for this project I decided I needed to re-watch all the movies (easiest and most entertaining homework ever), so that's what I started to do on Wednesday night. Lauren was gone for the week and Steph and Annabeth were out shopping so I rented Across the Universe. Not too far into the movie Steph and Annabeth came home and watched it with me while they were making new decorations for the apartment. For those of you who have seen Across the Universe you know stylistically it's rather... odd, well it became Annabeth's favorite movie even though she paid very little attention to it. The next movie we watched was RENT, and it wasn't too far into the screening that Annabeth proclaimed it to be her new favorite movie. After watching RENT, I decided it was too late for me to watch Moulin Rouge so I saved it for the next night instead.
On Thursday it was madness at the University because Dave Franco was on campus because his new movie Neighbors had a pre-screening at the University theatre. I didn't have the opportunity to meet him because the Meet & Greet was during class/work, but while I was walking from class to work I got to see the massive line of girls (and a few guys) waiting to meet him and take a selfie with him.
Fun event that happened at work: we were watching the students fake interview videos they did the week prior and we critiqued them in order for them to improve. Well after their videos I was volunteered to do a "what not to do" interview video, and apparently (according to my student Yahya) my performance made Kristin Stewart seem like a cardboard box. MA I MADE IT! I figured that that compliment meant that I needed to drop out of school and fulfill every girls dream of becoming an actress, being every pre-teens role model and eventually crack and have to go to rehab... Unfortunately I do not think my parents would approve of that choice so I decided to stay in school.
After work Steph, AB and I went to Gentle Ben's because it was happy hour and all appetizers are half off (or something like that) luckily for me I saw a sign that if I texted a number I could get a free appetizer coupon, so I did so and I got free dinner (the lady didn't even charge me for my drink). It was awesome.
After dinner we came back to the apartment and I watched Moulin Rouge, which by the way is one of my all time favorite movies and the songs still make me emotional every single time I watch it. Unfortunately Annabeth had seen this movie before so she did not proclaim it as her new new favorite movie.
Friday was a super crazy fun day! Well not the school/work part... but Friday night was an adventure. Steph, AB and I first went to an activity type thing called "Grill A Mormon Night", it was set up so people could come ask questions and learn about the church. Unfortunately when we arrived there were very few people there and the activity had not even started yet. We left soon after to go to our homegirl Kate's baptism where Steph performed Come Thou Fount with her voice and her guitar. She did amazing and Kate looked super rocking in her baptismal dress. After the baptism we came back to the apartment to change and then headed over the campus mall for Relay for Life!
I was super excited about this because I had done it the two years prior to this year. It was definitely a different dynamic since it was not at a high school and we were not locked in after midnight but it was still and awesome experience. In total I walked about 3 miles (on my toes let me add, I had a cut on my left heel so I couldn't walk on it, so all my walking was done on my tip-toes, and let me tell ya my calves are lookin real hot and theyre real sore too). Since we werent not locked in everyone was free to come and go as they pleased so by the end of the night only Annabeth, Rachel and I were there with Rachels purple couch!

I had a blast at relay walking around with Soukey. He's such a true homie and is always willing to let me complain about people and other things that annoy me. And when I want to talk about high school stuff he is the only one that understands here in Tucson because he actually went to the same high school as me.

Audrey and Lexe are totes adorbs

Let us all note Dakota's face in this picture. Dakota actually has a really nice smile (but he doesn't think so (I think that's a total guy thing to think you have a bad smile when you really don't)) and since he thinks he has a bad smile he decides to smile ridiculously to cover up for the fact that he thinks he has a bad smile.

Once we got home around 6:30 AM, I went straight to sleep. I woke up around noon because I have the golden ticket to get into Costco and Steph & Will needed to buy food for break the fast on Sunday. The good thing about costco on Saturdays is the crap ton of samples they have, the bad thing about costco on Saturdays is the crap ton of old people who do not know how to steer carts nor do they know normal traffic rules (and yes I apply general traffic rules when I am at costco, it's the only way to get out safely).
Later on Saturday it was time for a surprise birthday party for our homegirl Sanahin! Steph did an awesome job arranging the party secretly with Sanahin's mom. The plan was to go to Zona 78 (a pizza place) and that is where we would surprise Sanahin and then we would go bowling. Well there was an address confusion so Steph ended up telling everyone the wrong Zona 78 restaurant, which was about 25 minutes from the correct restaurant. It was super awkward when we got to the wrong one because we accepted someone else's reservation and sat down and then when Steph found out we were at the wrong restaurant we just walked away while a prom group was trying to convince the hostess that they made a reservation (the one we stole). But eventually we all made it to the correct restaurant to surprise the birthday girl! We had a great turn out of people who were all able to keep it a secret!
So these are my homies Derek and Ali. Derek often complains about how I do not mention him in my blog. But he actually came to the party so here are some fun things that happened with Derek during the night as his specific shout out in the blog. I glanced over at him and he was sticking his fork in his cup, claiming to get the cherry out of the glass, but eventually just left the fork in the glass. He also wanted to ask for a to-go box for his shirley temple (yes a BOX for his drink) then we continued to joke about how we wanted a to-go box for the various things on the table. Also shout out to Ali for getting a shirley temple to go, she was drinking it at the institute graduation tonight. So there you are Derek, I can't remember what else I was supposed to mention but I hope you feel special.

We made a joke that (from our angle) the candles said "12" instead of "21", the owner of the restaurant thought we were being serious and apologized for arranging the candles in the wrong order. I was dying laughing.

This was the delicious cake that Sanahin's mom ordered for Zona 78

After dinner and cake we headed over to the bowling alley for some hardcore bowling and dancing. It was a blast at first because we all had so much energy and were excited to bowl but by 10:30 ish we all lost that energy and our hands hurt from bowling. But before the slump we were really partying, so hard that I'm sure the groups next to us were probably annoyed and were probably too distracting for their games. I am still not the bowling queen but I am proclaiming myself the gutter queen from the amount of gutter balls I got the last round because of how bad my hand/arm hurt.

Once everyone finished their games it was time to call it a night! It was an awesome party spent with some really awesome people. That night made me think about all the awesome people I have met during my first year here in Tucson. They're all such amazing friends who really know to have fun, that's going to be one thing I miss during the summer but I'm already excited for all the adventures that will happen next semester! But I am definitely excited to be in Mesa for the summer! I'm excited to not have to be traveling back and forth to see my family and Zach and "the fam". It's going to be super weird not hanging out with Sadie everyday, I guess Zach will just have to put up spending everyday with me now that Sadie is off on her mission.
