I Will Survive

Wow... it's been quite awhile since I have blogged, and I have gotten quite a few "complaints" about it, so I figured my short little hiatus had to come to an end. I have good excuses for my neglectfulness and you will see as I go through the few weeks that I have deprived you all of.

Let's start off with March 9th (holy crap that was a long time ago). This was the day of the YSA talent show fun party-ness thing and all three of my roommates performed (even though Lauren didn't know she would be). Annabeth played an assortment of songs on her cello and totally rocked it, my personal favorite was Call Me Maybe... we screamed so loud for her, she was probably embarrassed. Steph played her guitar and sang Pompeii (for the few weeks leading up to this night I had heard her practice a gazillion times but that night was definitely her best performance). Lauren was pulled on stage with "One Direction" as they sang That's What Makes You Beautiful to her. I know what you're all thinking, "Why didn't Sydney get up and share her awesome talents?" I just don't think the audience was mature enough for my supreme and refined talent of playing the triangle... but in all honesty I just don't think I am talented enough for a talent show.... unless I could sit on stage and tell people about my life.
After the show Lauren and I went on the road to Mesa and had some awesome conversations. Lauren and I are rarely every together, just the two of us, so it's always nice to drive to Mesa with her and have deep conversations and get to know each other a little better.
I honestly don't remember what I did that weekend but I probably hung out with my friends at Zachs house and either had a game night or watched a movie.... you know, the usual. All I remember is that I did not want to leave Mesa because as soon as I got back to Tucson that meant the start of midterms week. But when I did get back to Tucson we celebrated Taylor's birthday with a Mexican potluck. We did the traditional go around the room and say something nice about yourself or something bashing Taylor and then something nice about Taylor.

Then monday came around, the start midterms week, the most psychotic and stressful week of my university career thus far (yes, it was even worse than finals week). Here was just a list of things due/tests I had that week...
Tuesday: Theatre Appreciation midterm
Wednesday: Philosophy midterm, Anthropology scientific essay
Thursday: 10 page english paper of death due and conference
The worst part of the week was writing the english paper and not to mention that I had the most massive headaches of my life during that week. I've never spent so much time in the library in my life. But it was all (almost) worth it on Thursday at my english conference for my essay and my professor really liked my essay (so wooooh!).
I did very well on my theatre midterm and I am feeling hopeful for my philosophy one. My anthropology essay was crap but I'll get a good grade on it anyway (hopefully).
On Wednesday I was working and went to this awesome spring break fair with my students where I learned a lot about sex, mexico, railroads and drunk driving. I got two free t shirts, free pizza, free soda and I learned that I am a great drunk driver.... or great at driving with the "drunk" goggles on.
On Thursday we went to dinner with Lourena because it was her last day in Tucson (for now!) I love that sweet girl so much and I am so proud of her amazing progress with the english language, I'm so stoked she passed her english test and will be returning to Tucson for more partying!

Friday came around and boy was a stoked for Friday! I didn't have my philosophy discussion so I got to sleep in until 10 (and after a week of little sleep that night was pure heaven)! I was so happy I packed up all my things AND CLEANED MY ROOM, I guess I learned why they call it spring cleaning.
After I packed and cleaned I went to dollar lunch then to my anthropology discussion and then to work... and as soon as I got out of work I booked it to my apartment where EJ and Rory were waiting for me to drive to Mesa to start the most heavenly week... SPRING BREAK!

I can't remember what I did Friday night or Saturday... but I do recall a demon bug flying around Zachs house and his little brother coming home with an albino snake (which later escaped his cage).

Sunday
I went to my home ward and felt the love from all my home ward moms who care about me and were concerned with my lack of blogs. After church I spent the rest of the day with Avery singing songs and eating fun dip.
Monday
ST PATRICKS DAY! It's seriously one of my favorite holidays because my mom goes all out with the leprechauns. When I was a kid we would always make traps the night before hoping to catch the leprechauns and get their pot of gold and when we woke up in the morning we saw that we never caught them and they they went crazy on our house, rearranging furniture, throwing flour all over the place and occasionally would leave us chocolate or green swag. I always loved it... Avery on the other hand was furious... so furious she wanted to punch the leprechauns, actually no, she wanted me to punch them so she could go take a nap.

Around noon, I went to the lake with Sadie for the last time before she goes on her mission (#crycrycry). I've been so lucky to have a best friend with an awesome family and an awesome boat and let me come along to party with them. The water was FREEZING, but it was so cold that your body went numb after about 5 minutes. Here are some pictures from the lake trip.

If you go on my facebook I advice you to look at the rest of my photos in my spring break album and pay special attention to all the glamorous faces I make during my knee boardng sesh, it's bond to make your day.

This is me and Sadie doing an irish jig in honor of St Patricks day

And this is our interpretation of a rainbow and a pot of gold.

After the lake I went home for dinner for some delicious pancakes and shamrock shakes (a St Patricks Day tradition in my family) and to watch the third to last How I Met Your Mother Episode.
Then I went back to hang out with Sadie along with Zach, Parker and Trevor. We went to Albertsons to buy some green jones and then went to help Trev ask a girl to prom... it was awesome. I absolutely love when people as other people to dances... which is rather ironic because I was only ever asked to two dances during my high school career.... but I love helping all my high school friends ask their peeps.

Tuesday
I'm drawing such a blank of what I did during the day... this is why I should always keep up with my blog otherwise I forget everything I do and cannot write about it.
I picked up McKenzie, Zach and Keaton up from school and we went to taco bell where Kenzie took a billion buzzfeed quizzes. Then we took Kenzie home and went to Zachs house where I schooled Keaton in a friendly yet violent game of horse. Then slowly but surely the rest of the fam came to hang out. It was the last fam party we would have for approximately 3 1/2 years due to this weird thing called "missions"... I don't know....
At this fam party we went to wal mart and to a bank of america atm inside of a frys, attempted the claw game, looked through old yearbooks and of course took pictures...

I've been pretty blessed to have such great friends in my life... and even though it's sad we all won't see each other for a long time I know everyone is out there doing the right thing and changing the world, but we will definitely be reunited again someday.

Wednesday
I went to lunch with my old pal Tate at chipotle. It's always nice to catch up with people when you haven't talked to them in forever because you know... college and what not (honestly that's such a lame excuse but I am using it anyway)
At night I babysat Avery while my mother and Kenzie were at mutual, we had a party including some delicious mac&cheese and reenacting frozen scenes.
When I was done babysitting I went and saw Need for Speed with Zach, Sadie and Parker. Even though I don't care much for cars or car movies, I thought it was pretty good.
Also Wednesday night Rory and EJ returned from Canada.

Thursday
We spent most of the morning/afternoon watching Frozen over and over again because EJ and Rory bought it for her in Canada. I even recall watching it in french once. The best part is that I am STILL not sick of that movie... I could watch it all day and never get sick of it, and evidently neither can Avery.
Later, I went to Scottsdale mall with my mother, EJ, Kenzie and Avery. It is really unfortunate going to a nice mall, such as Scottsdale, with no money... I couldn't buy anything... and that made everything even more tempting to buy.
When we got back from the mall I went to see Divergent with Zach. OH MY GOSH YOU GUYS. Seriously SUCH a good movie, I recommend it for everyone, their mother and their dogs. I hadn't read the book prior to seeing the movie but now I am motivated to. All I need is some time during the day that I can actually put aside and read... without being distracted by the television.

Friday
I helped my mom in the morning to set up for her young womens fundraiser for girls camp that was going to happen later that night. I spent most of my time running to get food for her and Avery, making trips to the dollar store for a plethora of miscellaneous things, and I also held one of my old (old as in she used to be my leader when I was in young womens, she's actually quite young) young womens leader baby.
Around 2:30 I picked Kenzie up from school, drove Zach to work, picked things up for my mom at home, dropped Kenzie off at the church and then Sadie picked me up for some awesome BFF fun time.
The first item on our agenda was to go to our favorite ice cream place, Water & Ice, for the last time before she leaves (#crycrycry). We had an interesting... and by interesting I mean odd... encounter with the worker there... it was probably one of those "you had to be there moments" so I wont waste your time trying to explain it, but Sadie and I couldnt stop laughing about it.
After we got ice cream we went to bahama bucks to visit Zach and more importantly to brainstorm the next thing we would do during our BFF fun time. The final decision was ride Sadies tandem bike around, while wearing a crazy hat and a fanny pack, while throwing doughnut holes at people while squirting them with water guns. After a trip to wal mart and the dollar store, the plan changed to riding her tandem bike while wearing our fanny packs and throwing carrots at people while shooting them with water guns. If that doesn't sound like a grand time to you... I honestly have no clue what you're smoking.
During our ride we got whistled at, stared at, yelled at and a boy even tried to save us because he thought we were in trouble. It was really a grand time, and I suggest if you are ever bored one day you consider this as an option.
Then we picked Zach up from work, then Keaton, Parker and Trev all came to hang out one by one. We went to chick fil a, hunted for Zachs little brothers missing snake, had a sword fight, played games and watched frozen.

Saturday
Ran errands with my dad, watched Rent, watched frozen, watched basketball and played with Avery. Then saw the new muppets movie with my mom, Kenzie, Avery and Rory. I thoroughly enjoyed that movie, the prisoners were my favorites for sure. If you like the muppets you will probably like this movie, but if you don't care for the muppets you probably wont care for the movie. It's just one of those...

Sunday
What a big day Sunday was.... IT WAS SADIES FAREWELL TALK (#crycrycry).
She did such an amazing job on her talk. She's a fabulous speaker with amazing humor and always brings with spirit into the room. She's going to be one bomb missionary, and her farewell talk totally solidified that statement. The people of Honduras are going to love her sweet spirit and her fantastic humor. I also got to see friends I haven't seen in a long time like Kyle, Victoria and Ashlyn!
After her talk and her greeting the MANY people who came to see her speak we took some pictures outside....

After a quick photoshoot most of us went to Sadies house to celebrate with delicious foods and desserts. It was a fun and relaxed party even though Sadie has a butt ton of family members. It was a grand time with friends bonding and eating and playing with Trevors new dog and of course watching frozen.
Around 6:30 I went home to watch Arizona DESTROY Gonzaga and mozy their way into the sweet 16! Even though my bracket is practically dead I am cheering hard core for my wildcat boyz. When the game was over I headed back to Tucson and got home around 11 just to wake up for school 8 hours later.

It was a much needed break and I was dreading going to school this morning. This break has definitely gotten me excited about summer, only 7 more weeks left of school, I'm sure I can do this!
