Flowery Easter

By some stroke of luck I got Good Friday off of work. So I took advantage of my day off went and got my hair done for mine and Zach's engagements this weekend. 9 times out of 10 I do not like to talk to my hair dresser while they are doing their thing. I would much rather sit in silence then try to make awkward small talk with them. This time around I had an awesome girl who spent the whole hour and a half talking through all my wedding plans with me, I honestly didn't mind it at all because it didn't feel awkward or like small talk. Being engaged has more benefits than I thought... But maybe only talking about my wedding plans will start to drive some people crazy... so it's also a curse.

After getting my hair done I met up with Zach, and then we met up with Steph, Kenzie (who arrived in the valley on Thursday evening for a party weekend), Avery and my mom. We all got lunch at In-N-Out, played Avery's new community worker game and then took on the hardest challenge I face... shopping for outfits for pictures. 1) I really do not like shopping very much.... 2) I especially do not like shopping with a lot of people because I feel pressure to not be picky, to be nice and to not waste peoples time. Ironically that only applies when I am shopping for myself.. I can shop for Zach all day long and have no problems (but it would of course never take that long because shopping for him is 100 times quicker than shopping for me). We managed to get 1 pair of jeans for me and 3 new shirts for Zach. My mother and Steph also found some goodies... more than me for sure. I didn't even complete my outfit but I was done shopping after like 7 stores that I really just needed to give up.

On Saturday morning I went on an epic photo adventure for Sadie's lil floral business she is starting up. I dragged Zach to come along with me as my assistant and support to the Whitmore's at 6:30 AM for a party fun time photo shoot. Sadie arranged some gorgeous bouquets, a super dope boutonniere and the cutest flower crown for this shoot. Ashlyn, Victoria, Aubrey and Parker were the models. I was the photographer and it was a grand old time. We started out our adventure out by Usery Pass. After some people getting stabbed by cactuses for wearing open-toed shoes, and almost getting ticketed for illegally parking we decided to go for a change of scenery. But don't worry we got the desert shots too:

I thought it would be cool if we went to the Salt River, but with fear that it could be too crowded or we would need permits, we found ourselves a lil campground with a pretty field and decided to settle there. We did indeed need a permit to park there but it was so photogenic that we couldn't just leave.. so Zach and Parker stayed in the cars and were prepared to drive away in the case that a cop came by. The lighting was like heaven here... which was surprising because the sun was at the point in the sky for bad lighting, it was magic.

I think we can all agree that putting a bouquet of flowers in a pineapple is just about the coolest thing in the world

All these people were the best models and actually moved around which makes my job as a photographer a thousand times easier. Seriously these photos turned out good 60% because of the flowers, 30% because of the models and 10% because pushed some buttons.

My favorite photos I have taken to date are the ones that I have taken for Sadie and her little businesses that she has started and thrived in. If any of you are in the market for a florist, you have to hire Sadie (find her on Instagram @floralsbysadie) and if you do not know what to get your mom or wife this upcoming mothers day, Sadie made a site just for mothers day orders (florals-by-sadie-.myshopify.com/), so don't question it and just buy a bouquet of flowers from her, I promise you will not regret it!

After the shoot I went back home and edited all my photos and then Zach and I hung out with Kenzie and Derrick. We attempted part two of shopping for our engagements, this time at Chandler mall. Zach bought a new pair of jeans and I bought nothing. What else is to be expected.
After shopping we went to Fiiz (my new favorite soda place... half way because I am not a fan of Soda Rush, and the other half because they have the best deal on the Aryv app). We played a giant version of Uno which was just so comical, even though I could not play well to save my life.

Afterwards we got some food at Canes then picked up Avery and then partied at Zach's house. We played some basketball, Super Mario Party, some crazy yoga/gymnastics challenge that Avery made up, Zach did his homework and most importantly we played with Max (Zach's new dog). Avery is obsessed with him, and he wasn't too big of a fan of the three newbies, but he did warm up eventually.

Easter was a big party this year. Steph and Zach were special guests (even though they usually are... it's still fun to have them around). Church was awesome... even though while I was trying to sneak out of church, I was caught and was asked to give a talk in church next Sunday... I guess that's a good thing in the end.
Dinner was delicious as it always is on Easter... especially when that dinner involves quiche.
The Easter Egg hunt was amplified with gift cards and large candies... and this year I OWNED it on finding the money eggs. I am probably the one that needed the money the least... but hey I am saving up for a wedding, so I still need it... to pay for lunch.
There is nothing better than spending a day remembering our Savior with the people who constantly remind me of Him.

Something else that consumed my week was watching 13 Reasons Why with Zach. There has been a lot of talk about this show recently. I have mostly seen the "bad" talk, and how this show glamorizes suicide and that it is extremely inappropriate and insensitive to make a show like this... and I honestly couldn't disagree more. I think most people who are hating on it haven't actually watched the show. While I definitely see why people might think this glamorizes suicide with a girl that makes 13 tapes about 13 people that were reasons why she killed herself, I think the show focused way more on the signs that people missed that could have, if noticed, prevented a suicide, it focused on how horribly people can treat each other and not realizing how much it could affect someone, and it focused way more on how it affects people and their lives. I found the show extremely difficult to watch (especially the final 4 episodes) and it really opened my eyes. I definitely think that this isn't the show to watch if you have suicidal thoughts, I definitely get that argument. But there is so much more to the show, in my opinion, than just a girl committing suicide.
Also while I would recommend the show to just about anyone... I don't recommend it if you are in any way offended by the F word.... because that is unavoidable. This is a mature show, and you have to know that going into it.

Also did you guys watch the Survivor episode last week? That tribal council really effed me up...

Other exciting things.
Zach and I are taking our engagements on Saturday so you can look forward to that.
Updated on wedding plans.... nothing really besides my gift for my bridesmaids is finally in America, so I can finally almost  ask them haha.
