On Friday October 15, Rory hosted his second trivia night. Facebook projected that there would be a much larger turn out this month than in September. Because of this, we decided to move the party over to my house because we thought my house would have more space.
Unfortunately it was raining that night so we couldn't move to couches to create more space like we usually do at parties, so there really wasn't more space than at Rory's apartment. Facebook projected correctly, someone counted around 40 people in my living room and kitchen at one point during the night. We were very happy more people came, but pretty bummed about how little space everyone had.
Because of the great turn out this time around, Rory has arranged to have the next trivia night at the institute to accommodate for a larger crowd. So just wait everyone, the November trivia night is going to be rocking.
There were lots of people coming in and out of trivia night so in total this was what my team (the inflammatory contagions) consisted of: me, Amanda, Connor, Maddy, Mary, Ali and Bryce. By the end of the night it was just me and Amanda.... but the two of us pulled it off and won the entire trivia night! We were behind for most of the beginning rounds so we were really excited when we won. It was a good night.
On Saturday October 16, EJ hosted his birthday party at my place.
During the day, EJ, his friends Shannon and Manpreet, Rory and myself went to the pride festival in Tucson. We were expecting it to be way more exciting than it was... it was actually quite disappointing, with the exception of the drag show. I am still kind of bitter about the drag queens that didn't let me use them as subjects in one of my school projects, but despite my bitterness the show was very entertaining... especially the people int he crowd.
The rest of the day was dedicated to party prep, and eating chipotle for lunch.
For this party we had an EJ trivia game, and then karaoke battles with 4 different rounds: hip hop, girl power, boy bands, love ballads and songs that remind you of EJ. I'm just going to post the pictures from the karaoke and give you commentary about what people were singing.
Rory and Steph graced the crowd with Roses by Outkast
Isaac and Glenn sang a french hip hop song and had some crazy dance moves to go along with it
Dakota, Natalie, Steph and myself did a beautiful rendition of I Want It That Way
Take special note of the mic that Dakota chose to have, he rocks
Glenn, Andrew, EJ and Cody sang As Long As You Love Me
Lourena was their biggest fan
Lourena, Sanahin, and Wendy singing Problem
Cody and Maddy rocking out to Man! I Feel Like a Woman
Special props to Cody for driving all the way from Peoria just to attend this party, that's dedication
A performance by Dakota of Bleeding Love
Maddy serenaded Dakota with I Will Always Love You
Things got pretty heated, and I'm not just talking about Dakota's hair
Maddy won the Love Ballad round with this one for obvious reasons
Andrew and Steph serenaded EJ with More Than Words
I can't remember what song Lourena and Glenn sang but it was adorable
Rory and EJ singing The Boy is Mine
Sawyer and Cody rocking to Uptown Funk
Lourena, EJ and Rory sang a Portuguese song that I do not know the name of
I think my favorite song of the night was the finale. Dakota sang Believe by Cher for the songs that remind you of EJ round. If that song doesn't get you psyched then I do not know what does. Everyone joined in by the end of the song and it turned into a giant dance party.
Overall it was a very successful party, as EJ's parties usually are. Even though he doesn't live in Tucson anymore, he is still everyone's favorite.
Since the back to back parties my life has been kind of stressful with studying for a midterm, forgetting to take an online quiz, writing an article about thrift shops, having a conference with my teacher about said article, but I am all relieved from that stress. And today I am particularly happy because it is Avery's fifth birthday today. Rory and I are driving down after class/work today to go celebrate with her. It's so weird to think that Avery has only been a part of my life for 5 years, but I honestly could not imagine a life without her. I am so lucky to have her as my baby sister, sass and all.
