A Week Is All Too Short

Holy crap I cannot believe that spring break has come to an end! It went by so quickly, but it was much needed.

Monday
I was really craving that super delicious blood orange ginger lemonade from Cafe Rio, so Zach picked me up and we went there for lunch. Afterwards we went to Old Navy because Zach had a gift card and a coupon, turns out the coupon wasn't valid for another month, so we decided to skip out on shopping.
At night for family home evening, we completed our march madness brackets, made traps for the leprechauns and made shamrock shakes! Avery was very excited about making traps. Her traps made absolutely no sense but they were absolutely hilarious.
For instance, this was her first trap. That beach towel is covering a laundry basket which has polly pockets inside (approximately the size of Leprechauns according to Avery) and then on top of the towel are dirty socks so the leprechauns will pass out from the smell, and of course a picture of a leprechaun on top just for kicks and giggles.

Tuesday
St. Patricks Day! Avery and I woke up bright and early to see the damage the leprechauns left in our house. Last year, Avery was very angry about them moving her toys around, but this year she was very excited and very determined to make as many traps as it took to capture the leprechauns. She made at least a dozen traps throughout the day, and unfortunately had no luck catching a leprechaun but she did get a ton of candy!

A little later in the morning, Zach came and picked me up and surprised me with some Jamba Juice, and then we headed over to the school. For my photojournalism class I had an assignment to photograph and interview a person at work. I decided to do Mr. Steinkemper, a teacher at Desert Ridge. So I went on Tuesday to go ask him if he would be willing to be my subject, and luckily he was very excited about it so I got my interview done and half the pictures I needed (I had to come on two different days in order to get some variety in my photos). We went during STUCO and it was a total nostalgic moment, bringing it back to senior year.

After I finished everything I needed for the project that day, we went to QT to buy McKenzie a drink, and we left it for her to get after seminary. Then we went to my house to see how St Patricks Day was playing out. We walked in to a completely destroyed house and a lot of Irish music it was quite entertaining!

Zach and I then went to lunch at Krazy Sub, picked his brother Scitt up from school and then went to Wal Mart so we could stock up on snacks and drinks for the road trip that was going to happen on Wednesday! We also planned out the different places we were going to go and some things we could do in each place.

At night, Keaton and Cob joined us and we channelled our inner 9 year olds and went to Peter Piper Pizza. The boys bought 300 coins for the 4 of us to split and I bought the pizza. It was an absolute blast! I stepped down from my thrown as queen of skeeball, and handed the position over to Keaton, who is clearly a beast at it, who woulda thunk. Cob was a beast at getting the jackpot, I swear he got it on this one game at least three times.

Zach and I combined forces and put our tickets together to buy something cool for his younger brother Jonah, who wasn't able to come with us. Cob ended up having the same amount of tickets that Zach and I had combined, but he went with getting a lot of small stuff... including these Chinese finger traps.

After partying at Peter Piper we all went back to Zach's house and played some basketball... well they all played basketball. Me and Scitt played this game called snatch, which he is too good at.

Wednesday
This was the big road trip day that I was going to knock out quite a few cities from my list of 91. Zach picked me up bright and early with all the snacks and drinks packed up in the car. I made the most perfect playlist that helped us along our journey!
Our first stop was Camp Verde, AZ.
One thing I discovered on this trip is that you cannot always trust gas stations to have bathrooms, I first learned this in Camp Verde, and then later in Winslow.
We decided to go to Montezuma's Well, which was very beautiful. I mostly shot videos of it, so you guys can check that out when I finish making the little diary thing. But I did snap a couple pictures... none of the actual well unfortunately.
I just liked this was called Mormon Tea

These trees reminded me of Maleficent

I forced Zach to take selfies with me, every city we went lol.

Our next stop was Sedona! I absolutely LOOOOVE Sedona! I hadn't been since my senior year when Sadie and I decided to ditch school one day and take a day trip there. I love all the mountains and how cute all the buildings are. I just love driving around it honestly.
We decided to go to sliding rock for the fun adventure.

Here is a picture from when I came here my senior year. Zach and I decided to recreate this picture down below

Sedona is so cool it deserve two selfies

Our next stop was Flagstaff! We both wanted lunch when we got there, and I decided that I wanted to try something local. So we parked downtown and walked to Granny's Closet, which had a wide variety menu... just like Granny's Closet lol very clever. I got hot wings, because why would I ever eat anything else, and Zach got country fried chicken with some mashed potatoes. We were both very satisfied with the result!
After lunch we walked back through downtown and back to the car and then we went to drive around NAU #golumberjacks. I honestly was very impressed with Flagstaff, the weather was beautiful and the whole city is beautiful honestly.

Our next stop was Winslow, AZ! A tiny little town with one way roads and a lot of Rt 66 stuff. Winslow gas stations also do not have bathrooms if you recall from earlier.
Zach was pretty tired from driving so I let him relax in the car while I explored and looked for Standin On The Corner Park... I was very mislead when I found out it was not actually a park...

Just in case Zach didn't want to come and check things out I had to take a selfie. It was raining so it was kind of difficult to hold an umbrella that is protecting my camera while taking a selfie.
But nevertheless Zach did join me at Standin' In The Corner and we got our selfies in

Our next stop was Star Valley, AZ. After a minor bump in the road we got there and were very unimpressed... there was seriously nothing cool in Star Valley, so we just took a selfie and got out of there. Actually, I take that back they do have one redeeming quality: bathrooms in the gas station.

Our final destination was Payson, AZ. Dakota, a Payson native, recommended going to Mackey's Grill. He claims it was the best burger in the world. Although, I'm not sure if it's the best in the world, it was definitely top 5!
After dinner we made our way back home to Mesa. It was quite the successful day. And like I said earlier, I mostly shot videos, and my video for the trip is almost complete! I will post it to the page as soon as it's finished.

Thursday
In the morning Arizona had their first game in March Madness and won! I'm telling ya, this is going to be a good year for the wildcats! It was a great day for basketball in general with some sweet upsets, they always make me happy.
The rest of Thursday was a day dedicated to the Divergent series. In the afternoon Zach came over and watched Divergent with me and my mother and then later at night EJ, Rory and Kenzie joined the three of us to watch the premiere of Insurgent! I have never read the books so I have nothing to compare the movie to, so I was very impressed. I wish I had enough free time to actually read the books, they are very interesting.

Friday
I woke up bright and early to go back to the school to get some more pictures for my project. They were setting up for the assembly when I got there and again brought back so crazy nostalgia of early mornings and late nights dedicated to STUCO. There were some BMX bikers there so that was fun.

The rest of Friday was dedicated to serving my mother. Friday night was a fundraiser she was in charge of for the YW going to Girls Camp. Zach and I went to the church to help set everything up in the morning when I was done at the school. He is such a trooper, he could have been watching basketball all morning, but came to help me out instead. Around lunch time my mother rewarded us with Sonic for being such great helpers. Then we picked McKenzie up from school and then went back to the church to help a little more and then to my house to type up some questionnaires the girls filled out. We did end up having a little time to relax before the fundraiser began, but before I knew it, it was time to go back to the church.
My mom asked me if I could be in charge of the photo booth and the event, I really had no choice in the matter but it turned out to be pretty entertaining... besides the children who thought it would be fun to touch my camera lens... Avery and her friend Emily really enjoyed the photo booth and came to get at least 10 pictures.

After the fundraiser it was only about 9 so I figured we could still have some party time, but when we got to Zach's house I fell right asleep, and ended up going home like an hour later. Service is quite tiring.

Saturday
Zach surprised me with an ocean water in the morning and then we went to develop the photo booth pictures for my mother, and buy some Runts for my Dad. Then we watched the U of A game at my house! We successfully defeated Ohio State and are moving into the Sweet 16!
We had to leave a little early from the game because Cob got his mission call!! So we went over to his house and watched him open his call. He has been called to serve in the Dominican Republic and reports in July. I just know he is going to be a superb missionary, even though his years of taking french in high school will help him very little.
At night we went to Hungry Howies to buy a pizza, and then to Water & Ice for some ice cream. Then we went to Discovery Park to eat them and to swing on the swings. Unfortunately the swings were taken by some hoodlums, so we decided to walk around the temple instead... but I think the temple was the better option anyway. It's always so peaceful there, and absolutely beautiful.

Afterwards we decided we really wanted to swing on swings, but the hoodlums were still there so we went to his neighborhood park and swung on their squeaky swings and had some great conversations.

Sunday
The day has finally come... the last day of Spring Break. I went to Indigo Bay Ward with EJ and Zach, heard a great talk from one of the couple missionaries serving there. Then came back home because I still can't get myself to go to Relief Society in that ward. We watched a little bit of basketball when we got home and then it was time for me and Rory to head back to Tucson.
I don't think I am ready to go back into reality quite yet, but I am very thankful for such an amazing break, even if it went by too quickly.
