So let's start out on Friday.
I drove home to Mesa with Rory after dollar lunch, we arrived around 3 or so and spent some time with the family. I previously gave McKenzie my Nikon d5000 when I got my new camera, and she told me she was struggling to use it, so I had to teach her all the nooks and crannies to it. We were each other's models, and of course Avery was our model too.
EJ came home earlier in the day from his business trip to Brazil, and he brought us all back t-shirts, and they are super cool if I may so myself.
Avery was feeling left out that she didn't have a camera like me and McKenzie, so I gave her my very old polaroid (no not like a cool polaroid camera they have nowadays, I'm talking polaroid digital camera). I thought we were all pretty cute with our cameras so of course we had to take a picture.
Valentine's Day
Alright so I was super pumped for Valentine's day but also extremely anxious. Zach planned the whole day out but left most of it to be surprises. I have mixed feelings about surprises, I love them because they are so cute and fun but I also hate when I know there is a surprise and I do not know what it is, it eats my brain alive. Zach kept taunting me leading up to Saturday with how awesome everything was going to be, so I really just wanted to know. He gave in on a few things, but left a lot to surprise as well.
I woke up in the morning and found my valentine from my mom on the table (many of you may know that my mom is an absolute rockstar and she gives each of her children their favorite candies and makes cards for each of her children on valentines day. This year Zach even got one, and Kinlee Garr (Kenzie's friend) because she was staying the weekend with us). My mom gave me fun dip, my absolute favorite thing about valentines day!
Zach came to pick me up in the morning and surprised me with jamba juice. He got two of my favorite flavors and let me choose between the two, when I discovered that the employee did not make my sour patch kid very well, Zach let me trade him for the white gummy bear, he's the best.
So we drive over to his house and I compliment him on his new shoes and then I look into the backseat of the car and found a pair of the exact same shoes in my size, with a chipotle giftcard in them, I was super psyched. I am not very into flowers, I honestly think they're much prettier when they are dead, and I don't like chocolates all the much either. He knew the exact right things to get for me and they were absolutely perfect.
When we get to his house he opened my present for him and my moms valentine to him and then he tells me that we are going to go on a tandem bike ride. I was hesitant about this because the last time I rode his tandem bike was with Sadie the night I graduated from high school. We were both way too short for the bike and totally fell off. But I sucked it up and went on the ride and it was awesome, and I did not fall off once. We rode around his neighborhood for a little bit, not knowing that at the same time his Mom and his little brother Jonah were setting up a breakfast picnic for us at the park right by his house. I was so shocked when we rode up to the picnic, I could've cried it was the cutest thing in the whole world.
The picnic consisted of my favorite costco muffins, various fruit, and strawberry milk picked out specially by Jonah because it's pink and you know, valentines day... When he went to set it up he even made sure there was plastic under the blanket so I wouldn't get wet and so the grass went to poke through. He is one thoughtful creative kid let me tell ya.
After the super awesome picnic we went back to Zach's house and watched marathoned Friends for a little bit before we decided to go to lunch. Since I had never been to Costa Vida before, Zach really wanted to take me to try their sweet pork burrito. Unfortunately due to the sweet pork throwing up incident two weeks ago, I decided to go with the enchilada, and it was still very good.... but I am still #teamchipotle because chipotle is my life. After lunch we went to Old Navy, because one of my favorite things to do is go shopping for Zach. Old Navy has the best clothes for guys for relatively cheap... in my opinion... Luckily, Zach likes to let me go shopping for him, so it's a perfect match. We went in wanting to buy him a red baseball shirt, but we walked out with two other tshirts instead.
After the Old Navy trip we went to Bahama Bucks to get a super delicious treat for dessert and then went back to his house to watch Guardians of the Galaxy. Zach was super thoughtful and went through a long process and bought my favorite popcorn seasonings, nacho cheese and caramel.
He also bought my favorite chips, buffalo wings dipped in ranch doritos. We had the movie on surround sound, with my favorite snacks so it felt like a real movie theatre, just with more comfortable seats.
After the movie he drove me all the way to the end of Chandler so I could go to Fired Pie (my favorite create your own pizza place). I created my own barbque chicken pizza and it was super delish, Zach went with a pepporoni olive pizza, which he probably thought was super delish too.
After dinner we went to go play mini golf at golfland, but as we probably should have expected it was crazy busy, so we ended up going to my house and crashed my sisters valentines party. It was imperative that we took pictures together so we could instagram how super dope we are as a couple.
I'm on the left....lol
Super cool with our matching shoes
These were the final two for the instagram selection:
After hanging out at my house for a little while, we decided to leave McKenzies friends alone and so we went back to Zachs house where I just ended up falling asleep for an hour and then he drove me back home. Me falling asleep on valentines day was clearly an opportunity to selfie.
Many of you may not know but this is mine and Zachs third valentines day where we have been each others valentines, but let me tell ya, this was the best one yet.
Richardson Family Reunion 2015
Every year on the third Sunday in February is the Richardson family reunion at the Wash in the middle of nowhere in Arlington, AZ. This year Zach and Kinlee came along and were Richardsons for the day with us.
This reunion was a special memorial for my first cousin twice removed, Sammi who had passed away recently. I didn't know him very well, in fact I have probably only talked to him three times in my lifetime, but he had a super awesome tricycle and he died naked, so I think he was probably one cool cat.
You may be impressed by the fact that I know he is my first cousin twice removed, well funny story, during the family reunion, my immediate family had a huge discussion trying to figure out what once removed/twice removed and what second/third cousins really meant. It was all very confusing and there was some strange hypothetical situations that Mckenzie made up to make sense of it all, where my Dad had a child who was Mckenzies cousin and at one point my Dad was being portrayed as me in situations instead of myself... the poor child just made everyone else confused but we got it eventually and I can now tell you (probably) what certain types of cousins mean... but don't ask kenzie, she will end up switching your identity.
During the annual egg toss, my Dad and Rory wanted to reclaim their winning title, so I paired up with Zach and EJ paired up with McKenzie. Zach and I got out the third round (cough cough but it wasn't my fault cough cough ;) ,), EJ and Kenzie got out the fourth round, and my Dad and Rory ended up coming in second.
Overall it was a very fun reunion, and even though none of my direct close relatives go (besides my Grandpa Richardson), there's always some fun memories to be made.
I can't remember why EJ was making this face but I remember I couldn't stop laughing
My Grandpa Richardson, such a stud
I discovered that my Dad is not an ugly eater.
I was very shocked
Eating hot wings with a fork, so fancy
Rory eating a giant cupcake like a sandwich
My mother is so cute, and so is her offspring
This is how normal people hug right?
I couldn't tell you why I was making that face at the rock I'm holding.. seriously no clue.
In this picture you can see my catching the egg like a pro.
Now here is a series of my brother and father doing a fantastic job in the egg toss... but not fantastic enough to get first place
Kenzie brought her polaroid camera along and took some photos. We learned a cool trick from one of our distant cousins. When you take the picture put it in your armpit immediately and it will turn out perfect. It worked really well actually.
While we were driving home, Zach fell asleep so that was an opportunity for some payback
When we got back to my house we hung out for a little bit but then it was time for Rory and me to head back to Tucson and back to reality. It was such a great weekend, I really did not want to come back, especially because I have two exams coming up this week. What a life.
