Some of you may know I have this theory about me getting sick every single September. In years past my sickness falls infects me at the beginning of the month, so I thought my theory was disproved seeing as how I was not sick at the beginning of the month. Have no fear though my friends, on Thursday September 25th I could feel myself getting sicker and sicker and by Thursday night I was done for. Which was pretty miserable because that night we were having a party at my place in celebration of EJ who got his first big boy job in Scottsdale. It's going to be so weird not having him in Tucson with me anymore but the past year has been a constant party with him living just on the other side of campus.
Alright so Friday morning, I wake up and I felt so miserable I decided to call out of work and just stay in bed as much as I could. I did absolutely nothing productive, with maybe the exception of sleeping (depending on how productive you think sleeping is when you are sick). Lauren is a super awesome friendaroomie and was always asking me if I needed anything and brought me a delicious jamba juice.
I also stocked my body up with all my mothers medicines in hopes that I would get better very soon.
So towards 6 PM as I was watching Grease I had the slightest wind kick in so I decided to join Steph, Lauren, EJ & Matt who were going to a couple of parties around 7. So I got myself ready to look at least not dead and headed off. First stop was Zac Funks not-so-surprise party. I was feeling pretty good for most of that party except towards the end, which made a good excuse for us to excuse ourselves a little early. We then made our way to Clark & Cody's birthday party where they were playing some insane and hilarious game. I wanted to play really bad but I felt pretty miserable at that point so I decided to sit out and eat all the delicious foods they had there. I was particularly excited for this party earlier in the week because they had a pinata and I LOVE PINATAS... but not when I'm sick... so I opted out on that one and made my loving friends take me home so I could go to sleep.
On Saturday I was feeling 3% better than I did the night before. So that was good enough reason for me to go to a baptism at 2 for this awesome kid named Kennedy. Steph and I went to a missionary lesson with him about the ten commandments. The missionaries didn't even challenge this guy prior to the lesson to memorize the commandments, he went out of his way to do so! That's pretty impressive to me especially because I can't even tell you all ten in the correct order. So yeah, it was his baptism and he had friends coming from Utah and Texas to come support him in this awesome decision. It was fantastic. Oh and this was also Steph's second concert in which she sang Come Thou Fount and brought people to tears.
After the baptism I went back home and sat on the couch for the rest of the day... woooo fuuuun. I tried to do some homework but my mind was really just not in the mood. On the bright side Lauren and her friend ( ;) ) Josh made me some chicken noodle soup! I couldn't taste 70% of it because I had no sense of smell at this point but it tasted delicious to me!
Sunday I woke up, Steph said something to me and I could barely respond to her. My voice was shot. If we are being completely honest, that's my favorite part of being sick. I love when my voice sounds raspy. This is also a good sign because this phase in my September sickness is always near the end of the cycle.
So 9 o'clock was church and I ended up staying at the institute until like 3 o'clock due to Break the Fast and being filmed for this documentary this film student is doing on the Mormons.
I managed to get through this time because of my home boy Russell who brings along pocket doterra oils and gave me some to clear up my nose. He's the bomb and is a life saver.
After staying at the institute for what felt like forever I returned to my home, watched a little bit of The Diary of a Mad Black Woman and then the missionaries came over for dinner and ONCE AGAIN came in clutch with another freaking awesome object lesson. I wish I could explain their object lessons to you guys but it's not nearly as cool if you aren't there to see it.
Now it is Monday. I went to work and am feeling a million and ten times better.... still not perfect but super great compared to the weekend!
YAY FOR SEPTEMBER SICKNESS
