So Monday I worked from 9-4 while everyone else was in classes. It was a hectic first day but successful over all. I am very excited to be back with Project F.O.C.U.S with all the new students and the returning ones.
Also after FHE on Monday a million and two people came over to my house so they could complete their ice bucket challenges and I think I am officially tired of throwing buckets of ice water on people. I have now helped out with 10 people so I think that's a record.
So today was my first day of school. My first class of the day is at 8 am, which is usually a class time dreaded by all college students, but I thought since I worked at 5 am all summer, an 8 am class would be easy peasy. It was refreshing waking up at 7 but I don't know if I will always feel that way. Since none of my roommates have class that early in the morning I didn't have anyone to take a first day of school picture so I decided I should take some selfies for my mom's sake.
Now I am going to walk you through my day and my schedule of classes
8:00-9:15 Women in Western Culture
I am super stoked for this class says the little feminist in me. The professor seems really cool and knows a lot about the subject since she is currently working on her PhD.
9:16-10 Nothing
I pretty much just sit at the institute and eat breakfast
Today was a free breakfast at the institute for all the new people but Sister Stout didn't discriminate and let me eat some waffles for free too!
10-10:50 Institute
This semester I am taking Book of Mormon part 1. I have Soukey AND Natalie in my class so I am super stoked! It's a pretty big class size too so i am more than satisfied. The only down side to this class is that I have to leave a few minutes early in order to get to my next class on time and to get a good seat.
11-12:15 Principles of Journalism
My first journalism class! I am the most excited and the most nervous for this class! The professor seems to really know her stuff and is really nice. I also have my new friend Tory (for those of you who know Taylor Smith this is his cousin) in the class with me so I know it's going to be a great semester.
(the trek between journalism and my american government class is intense, I go from one side of the campus to the other in 15 minutes by foot)
12:30-1:45 American Government
I was getting really antsy at this point because I hadn't hydrated or eaten much, and the professor said it would be a very short class today so I didn't pay all that much attention. I was also sitting next to a guy that hasn't showered in weeks it seemed like, so that didn't make a good impression for the class. But I do love to learn about Government... and it is my minor... so I bet I will enjoy it.
2-2:15 Public Policy and Administration
Another class for my minor and I think I am going to really like this one because the teacher made a great first impressions. So far with my college classes all the teachers that made a good first impression I ended up enjoying the class so hopefully the same rule will apply here.
During this class a storm started brewing outside and by the time I got out I was walking through this...
I am not even exaggerating the water was up to my calf. I just took off my shoes and walked right through it instead of trying to avoid it. The drainage system in Tucson is GREAT!
Since I didn't want to walk home in the down pouring rain, my loving brother came to pick me and Annabeth up at the Institute to take us back to our house.
Now I am changed out of my soaking wet clothes and waiting for my roommates to get home so we can get some chipotle for our Tuesday tradition!
I am very excited for this school year with all the new things I am going to learn and all my new experiences and all the new friends I am going to meet. Here's to a new school year! clink
