Besides the two emotional breakdowns I had at the institute, the remainder of my "most emotional week of my life" wasn't all that emotional. I was able to get through it just fine without being stressed or too sad or angry or whatever random emotion you can think of.
The most eventful part of my Thursday was work. On Thursdays and Fridays I support the second year students in a class called WorkAbility that helps them in their transition from Project FOCUS into the real world and hopefully get the students into a real job, it's super awesome. So on this particular Thursday we got to do a super fun metaphorical activity about being able to handle failure. Each of the students had to throw a ball and an egg at a wall, the metaphor was that when you fail you don't want to break like an egg, you want to bounce back like the ball. Although the ball was the good part of the metaphor it was not the fun part of the activity, everyone loved throwing the eggs at the wall. This activity also reassured me how terrible I am at throwing things... well sports in general, we were supposed to throw the egg at the newspaper so we wouldnt get it on the wall, but I am incompetent and that task was much too difficult for me. Just look at my form...
Everyone else did a much better job than me...
On Friday during devotional we played a conference memory game where we had to match an apostles face to a random fact about them, although my team had the dream team captains (Maddy and myself) we did not win the game for one reason and one reason alone... our team name was Captain America. Although I did protest the name, everyone else seemed to like it so I let it be knowing that if you choose Captain America as your team name your team will lose, no matter the game. I don't know if you readers can tell, but I really loath Captain America, and there is no way to persuade me otherwise.
Friday was cool because at work one of the WorkAbility students bought me a coke and I really needed the caffeine, he's awesome.
Steph and I went to see Oklahoma! the musical for our theatre appreciation class. I rather enjoyed the play except for the dance fighting, I was cracking up laughing during that scene but apparently no one else found it as funny as I did. It was actually a really well put together show, and I just finished writing an 8 page paper about it so I really don't want to talk about it any more than I already have, sorry to disappoint.
After the show Steph and I went to pick up McKenzie from my brothers apartment because she had intentions of staying and partying for conference weekend like she did last semester. Unfortunately she was not feeling well so we had to meet my mom in Casa Grande after the first session of conference on Saturday to take her home. While in Casa Grande we ate lunch at Culvers and tried to explain to Avery that it is okay that she has blonde hair, but she REALLY wants brown hair like her sisters.
Saturday night I hung out with Steph, EJ, Rory, and Matt. We went to Rubios for some good old mexican food thats not as good as chipotle. We then came back to 1320 to play a non-kids version of apples to apples called evil apples and eventually Bert joined us to party! After playing evil apples we played mine and Stephs favorite game heads up! Eventually the party ended and we all went to bed.
All of my Sunday was spent on the couch. I was either watching conference, sleeping, watching the office or eating. I don't have the energy to write about my impressions of conference right now, because I'm so ready to go to sleep but if any of you are just absolutely dying to know what I liked and didn't like I'm always down for a good conversation. Overall I liked this conference I didn't feel super impressed by anything and I was also not offended by anything, so I'd deem it as a good conference.
Today was rather uneventful, I woke up an hour early which really didn't make me happy but I got over that pretty quickly when I learned that two of my classes were already cancelled this week! The highlight of the day was probably chilling on google hangout with Steph and AB while we were in the same house
Alright there's a quick little post to keep you all at least a little bit updated. I'll get back into my normal groove soon with all the exciting events coming up within the next few weeks!
Oh side note: My aunt started a group called "April is for Abs" and I have decided to bring it to 1320 because all want super sexy abs... it sucks.
