We Don't Need No Education

Pink Floyd used a double negative therefore they are saying we need education, right?
Not a real question. But this song has been stuck in my head all day because

  1. It was the first day of spring semester today
  2. All the buildings on campus are made up of red brick, drawing me to think about the line "All in all, you're just another brick in the wall"
So yeah, today was the first day of spring semester. My classes this semester start earlier than they did last year, my first class everyday (with the exception of Fridays) starts at either 9 or 9:30. All of you kids in high school/jr high/elementary and moms with kids in those respective schools are all probably reading this thinking I'm crazy for saying 9/9:30 is early and that you would kill to sleep in until 8... but I'm a university student and that is quite early. But don't worry I am cherishing the moments that I get to sleep in until 8 because someday I will be waking up before the sun everyday for my kids and other stuff...
Anyway, since it is Wednesday my first class was at 9:00 AM. So I woke up at 8, got ready, went to the institute with Steph (because it was still a little to early to go to class) and of course took a first day of school picture:
After the photo I went to my first class which is in the movie theatre on campus so the seats are VERY comfortable (or at least compared to the other chairs I have sat in on campus). This class is a philosophy class called Personal Morality. Just from one day I am very intrigued by the class, it's going to cover some hard hitting topics that I feel pretty passionate about so it's going to be awesome to learn more about them and the other side of the argument as well.
My next class was at 10 am and it's underground in the ILC so I think that's pretty cool. This is another Anthropology class (for any of you that heard me complain about my classes last semester you know that my anthropology class was number one on my complaining list) but I think this one will be more interesting than the one I took last semester it's called the Origins of Human Diversity. One main reason I think I didn't do so hot in my anthropology class was because it didn't interest me and so when I got bored I would go on my phone or on my facebook, but this teacher is very strict about the use of electronics in the classroom, so even though this teacher sounds like a total B word, it will eventually help me stay focused more.
My last class of the day was at 11 AM and it is French 202. Although this class is rather intimidating I am very much looking forward to it. It's not much of a lecture/learning french words class as it is an applying what you have already learned class. Each student in the class is assigned a character that they must be the entire semester, and all these characters live in the same apartment complex. We are all going to make facebooks for our characters so we will have to use french in a sense that I would use english everyday. We will be apart of book clubs within the class, in which we read short stories and then discuss them in french on our facebook group. We also have to do journal entries and such in our characters voice. I am really excited about this because as I am a past theatre kid I love the idea of developing characters and their stories and portraying them. We shall see how this goes.

Tomorrow I have four classes as well Art History of the Cinema at 9:30, French at 11, Institute at 1 and English at 2, and then maybe some work in between somewhere or after.

Immediately after my french class I went to work, but I love my job so much that it doesn't even seem like work anymore, I see it as time that I am hanging out with my awesome friends and I just so happen to be getting paid for it. It was fun to visit with the students I worked with today to see how their break was and how they are liking their new classes etc.

After work I came home, bummed out, definitely did not start my new years resolutions (go me). Now I am blogging while Steph and Lauren watch Pretty Little Liars.

I am looking forward to tomorrow because it is the UA v. ASU basketball game (even though I failed at getting tickets to the actual game, Friday because I don't have any classes that day this week, Monday because there is no school, next Friday because I am going to the Gilbert temple open house and next Saturday because it is my best friend Sadies 19th birthday! So many things to look forward to but I am not going to let that distract me from my schoolwork of course ;)
