Auld Lang Syne

Well yesterday was officially the last day of the year 2013.
2013 was a pretty big year for me, it was my last semester of high school, I graduated high school, moved to Tucson and started University. I lost some friends along the way but I also made some amazing new ones, especially in Tucson. I had the greatest senior year marked by memorable nights like prom and senior night. Created amazing memories from my student council experience like going to State Conference.  The year was full of concerts like Imagine Dragons, the Killers, the Script, Gavin Degraw and Train. It was full of fun road trips to Sedona, Payson, Vegas and Utah. It had a lot of engagements and weddings for many of my friends. Although I did not get engaged or married I had my fair share of "relationships" this year. 2013 was filled with endless late night taco bell/mcdonalds/in n  out runs. I moved in with 3 crazy but amazing girls. I learned how to pay a rent check and what it meant to not always have money to spend. I got an amazing job working with students with special needs. I had my golden birthday and turned 18! My best friend got her mission call to Honduras. Rory came home from his mission in Brazil and we had Christmas together as an entire family. 2013 was filled with so much more I'm not even patient enough to type it all out. But what an amazing year it has been, and important transitioning year for me. I know 2014 is going to be a big one too as I continue to discover myself, who I want to be and what I want to do with my life. But it's also going to be a hard year while many of my best friends will be going on missions. I'm stoked to see what the year has in store for me and my friends and family.

Since 2013 was such a good year, it definitely deserved to go out with a bang, so I wasn't going to let New Years Eve be lame.
The party started at 4 o'clock when I  picked up Zach to go buy our secret santa presents for the fam. (We decided this year to do secret santa between the 7 of us. We drew names a few weeks prior but Zach and I are such amazing procrastinators we didn't get our presents until the day of). After our target trip it was time for dinner with the fam. Where else would we go besides Native New Yorker for wing night? Unfortunately Trevor was unable to make it to wing night for it was his mothers birthday but he did end up joining us later.
After our dinner we went on a quick wal mart run and then to go buy mine and Sadies traditional fireworks from the ghetto fireworks stands set up throughout mesa. I love these fireworks not because they are super flashy and explosive, because they aren't, I love them because they are cheap and fun anyway. Plus it's been a tradition for the past 2 years with me and Sadie to buy these "crappy" fireworks for New Years Eve. But don't worry everyone Keaton and Parker provided more showy fireworks so we didn't get bored with mine and Sadies 5 minute smoke bombs that smell oh so delicious.
Once we had bought our fireworks we went to Zachs house to wait for Trevor to show up so we could open our secret santa presents. During our wait we just hung out outside playing basketball and tether ball and ripstiking and skateboarding and unicycling.

Scitt (originally named Scott) drew portraits of me and Sadie. I'd say he got us spot on.

While we were still waiting for Trevor to arrive, Keatons girlfriend Katie came to party with us for awhile. Cob and I decided that our party was getting a little boring so we went to Jonahs (Zachs little brother) NYE party where they were playing sing star. I totally destroyed Cob in Baby One More Time by Britney Spears.
Finally Trevor arrived and it was time to open our presents! Opening the gifts was pretty predictable because almost all of us got at least one mountain dew can, what can I say, we are easy to please.

Parker got Sadie the greatest shirt of all time. It was the zombie guy that just says "I like turtles" during an interview. Sadie loves turtles so it was a perfect shirt for her.

After the exchanging of presents we went to go light up some fireworks.

We saved Parkers big firework show stuff for later when it was closer to midnight.
The next item on the agenda was to go to Sadies for a dance party in her front yard. The dance party quickly turned into people playing ping pong, people riding all the baby scooters and Trev teaching me how to penny board which he promised to do a long time ago for me. The best part of the dance party though was doing the cupid shuffle, if you have ever seen me and Sadie do the cupid shuffle you would understand why.
Also at Sadie's house we took some alright fam pictures. Let it be known that these are the only pictures we have with the entire fam... it was a marvelous moment in history.

Eventually we didn't want to do freestyle dance parties anymore so we went back to Zachs house to play Just Dance until it was 10 minutes until midnight. Don't worry I remained undefeated that night on any sort of video game played, although everyone else who played put up a good fight.

It started to get closer to midnight so we went outside to light Parkers big fireworks. I gave them a 10/10 because as soon as I thought they were over more fireworks started to spark out resulting in me screaming.

Before I knew it was 2014! No midnight kisses though, those are overrated... 1:30 kisses are so in now.

After celebration and some crappy sparklers outside we went back into Zachs house to watch the California New Years celebration because they are an hour behind us. Eventually everyone left one by one and the night came to a close. But man what a night it was. The first and last New Years with the fam. An unforgettable night with my unforgettable friends. Great way to start off the new year and all of it's adventures.
I hope everyone had an amazing and new years eve and are having an awesome new years day. On my to-do list today is to go to Krispy Kreme to start working again for a little bit before I head back to Tucson for my second semester!
