I'm thankful for ducks catching on fire and hockey pucks

Catching Fire
So Thursday night I became a traitor to my ways. I am a firm believer in midnight showings, yes midnight, not the 8 or 9 or 10 pm showings, I'm talking 12:00 AM midnight. My mom has taken me to midnight premieres since the early Harry Potter movies and it has always been such a fun tradition to go camp outside the theaters for the midnight showing. But Thursday night I conformed. My roommates made an event about a month and half ago to go see Catching Fire at 9 pm, so there wasn't much that I could do about it besides go and see it at midnight by myself with no vehicle. But I'll tell ya, even though 9 oclock showings don't have the same experience as the midnight showings, the movie was good nonetheless. Actually, that's an understatement... the movie was AMAZING! I have read the books, so I already knew the story of it but I was still in awe the other time. Apparently I was very entertaining to watch because at one moment I turned over and Steph Luc was staring at me, watching me watch the movie. But seriously, I loved Catching Fire so much, it was directed and produced way better than the Hunger Games and it followed the book very well!
So the lesson I learned from this experience is that the movie is still the same no matter what time you see it (but I still think midnight is better).
The roomies and I were all sporting some sort of Hunger Games attire, so of course we had to take a photograph to document the moment.

Hockey Game
Maybe it's just the Canadian in me, but I seriously love hockey games! 1: because hockey is the most entertaining sport to watch 2: the banana guys 3: the 80s music they play 4: the people that come with me! Up to this point, every game I have gone to the ice cats have won, unfortunately Iowa State defeated us, but on the plus side there were FINALLY some solid fights going on, Iowa State is pretty vicious. At this game, they were doing a toys for tots charity thing where if you wanted to you could bring a stuffed animal to throw onto the ice and donate it to a child. Everyone was telling me to bring Ben Kevin (my giant panda) but I have grown too attached to him  (in fact he is sitting on top of my feet as I type to warm them up because my house is freezing) and he would be way too heavy to throw over the glass. Since I decided not to bring him, we went to the dollar store to buy some stuffed animals. I was too afraid I wouldn't make it over the glass so I made Ali throw it for me.
Also at the hockey game Lauren, Cody and I played "name that song" whenever they played music. Unfortunately we started playing the game during the 3rd period when all the good songs have already been played.
Here was the start of our group, more people came to sit with us throughout the game, and of course Ali who is taking the picture.

It was a really intense game, clearly.

Afterwards we went to In n Out. I forgot how crazy In n out gets at 11 pm, brings me back to football season last year when everyone went there after the football games. At In N Out there was a lot of seat switching and a lot of interesting conversations, either the conversations were really hilarious or I was really tired because I couldn't stop laughing the entire time we were there.

Football Game
On Saturday, Arizona had the biggest game of the year, we were playing University of Oregon, who is ranked very high in the nation. To set the scene: the game was at 1:30 PM and it was raining rather hard and we were going into the game expecting to lose. I planned on going only up until half time because I figured it would be raining the entire time and that we would be losing pretty badly. But there must really be a God in heaven because Arizona was winning the entire time and by the second quarter it stopped raining! History was made as we demolished the ducks! It was such an amazing win that I even got to storm the field! Best part of storming the field, touching Ka'deem Carey... How often do you get to touch the shoulder of Captain All America? It was a great way to celebrate the last home game! Definitely one of the greatest moments of my college experience thus far! Now we just got to keep our momentum up for next weeks game against ASU... I mean if we can beat the ducks then the devils are definitely going down.

It was such an exciting moment that I had to kiss the field to make it even more memorable.

After the game I spent some time with my family as most home games usually go. It was really entertaining because every five minutes my Dad would just say "what a game" and then be silent. Avery was also very excited about the win because she kept singing "Bear Down Arizona" to everyone and chanting "U love A". We truly are a family of wildcats!

After my family left I went to Steph Lucs house with EJ, Taylor and Natalie so they could work on Taylors math homework... yes it does take three+ people to help with Taylors homework. Since I would be absolutely no help I decided to play the wii. First I played Steph at tennis and beat her because I am the tennis champion and then I played Taylor in bowling and beat him because I am the bowling champion. But of course, if we were playing tennis or if we were bowling in real life I would lose terribly because I do not have an athletic bone in my body. Then after those games, I spent probably a solid 30 minutes trying to get a gold medal in tennis training... I was one away from getting the gold ONE AWAY. It was so very frustrating and Taylor kept distracting me by telling me how well I was doing... I just need complete silence when I am in the zone.
Once they had completed most of Taylors math, we took a roadtrip to Sahuirita (or however you spell it) to take Natalie home. We also stopped by Frys to get nutmeg and other candy stuff to celebrate Natalie and her amazing driving skills with a cast on her arm.
On the way back, Taylor said something that literally made me laugh for 5 minutes straight, and whenever it is brought up I start laughing again.
So we were talking about Indie music bands and Arcade Fire was brought up and I said that my brother Rory really liked the movie Where the Wild Things Are mainly because it featured the song Wake Up by Arcade Fire, and this is how the rest of the conversation went:
Taylor: I didn't really like Where the Wild Things Are, it just didn't do the book justice...
EJ: It's ten pages long
Maybe it was a "you had to be there" situation but I was dying of laughter and I am even laughing while typing about it. It is forever one of my favorite quotes from Taylor and he will never live it down.

Roommate Thanksgiving/Baptismaversary Dinner
On Sunday it was Stake Conference but since I hadn't been to church in a few weeks Ej, Taylor, Natalie and I decided to go to 1st ward to take the sacrament. After church I went to EJs apartment so I could take a nap and then make Quiches for the dinner we were going to have later that night to celebrate Stephs one year of being baptized and an early Thanksgiving. Although I would never call myself a cook or anything that remotely relates to a cook, the Quiche ended up tasting really good, and I am patting mine and my brothers back for it. The dinner consisted of turkey, casserole, quiche, rolls, salad, potatoes, martinellis and pie all prepared by the roommates + EJ. We all went around the table saying what we are thankful for, which was cute and fun. Unfortunately we did not take any pictures of this event, shocking I know.
I am super excited for Thanksgiving and to go home to see my family and friends, but I am even more excited for Black Friday, the greatest holiday of the year, hopefully this year my ponytail will not be pulled whilst trying to get a gift card for H&M.
