Wednesday August 24
Third day of school. Senioritis is way more of a real thing in college, especially if you are taking an online class. I completely forgot that it was a thing until Wednesday and then when I went on the course page it just seemed like too much so I went on Facebook. I'm hoping to shake out of this mindset soon, but my hopes aren't too high.
After work in the morning and my one class in the afternoon, I had a couple hour break so I went home. Couple hour breaks are actually my life saver right now. I feel like I am always go-go-go and I never really get a break, so I certainly don't take for granted my breaks to relax.
After my break I went to the Wildcat for a make-up meeting for the weird kids that couldn't make our big meeting last week (haha just kidding Darien and Tom). They both were on the desk last year so we were able to speed through the meeting without a lot of questions being asked.
When I came home the missionaries were just leaving my house because Steph was feeding them for dinner. I said my hellos and goodbyes very quick and then found the greatest surprise of my whole life:
Ben Kevin had some babies!
For those of you who might be new readers of my ever so popular blog, Ben Kevin is the giant panda in the middle that I received as a present for my 18th birthday from Steph Luc. He has been the mascot of the beezie household since then. You might be following him on Twitter @SexyBenKevin and have seen the different outfits he has sported throughout the years (Mary the Virgin on Christmas, Cupid on Valentine's Day, and a hard-core U of A fan on pretty much any sports day even when the UA is not involved).
Last semester we didn't have a second couch in our house and so Ben Kevin was often used as a piece of furniture (he is the perfect cuddle partner), and Steph and I wanted to add another bear to the household in order to have another chair in the house. Apparently giant bears are not a year-round purchase you can make at Costco, so we were unable to add a another bear to the family. Then we got a couch so we didn't really need a bear, but lo and behold Costco has restocked and I come home to not one, but two new additions to the Ben Kevin household. The one on the left's name is Mariah Sanjaya and the one on the right is Chorky.
Some people dream of a boy buying them giant bears on Valentine's Day, but us beezies like to take life by storm and buy them ourselves, and it's the greatest decision that has ever been made in this house since buying our pet fish Opruh.
Thursday August 25
Once again my senioritis kicked me in the butt and I totally forgot to do an assignment for my Reporting Public Affairs class... literally my life. But I am actually just accepting it at this point. It's my last semester, I guess there is no better time to slack off a little bit.
After class I was working production at the Daily Wildcat. On Tuesday I was able to get out really early because I went in early, but I did not go in early on Thursday so as a result I was staying much later than I usually want to. Thursday was a special day because I got to work with Chastity. She worked Sunday's production while I was working Tuesday's, which is not cool, but we were able to sync up on Thursday to make the world make sense again.
Wow that was a really short paragraph about Thursday... awkward.
Friday August 25
Even though I never have classes on Friday and I have the whole day to work, I like to give myself a break on Friday and only work a couple of hours. Chase and I are becoming the best of friends again and we have had no problems yet #knockonwood.
After work I went to devotional where I saw my beloved Ty. This was actually my first time seeing her since she moved out so there was clearly a lot to catch up during that two week hiatus.
There isn't dollar lunch anymore on Fridays because they moved it to Tuesdays. But thank the heavens they do still have food on Friday's. You can make as many PB&J's and Grilled Cheese's as you want ALL FOR FREE. It's the best. Jenny and Kenzie joined me for the free lunch #roomiesforever. During this lunch the three of us plus Andrew created our own country which started out as modeled exactly like the United States except no one can be a citizen unless they can pass a basics civics test. But progressively throughout the day the country turned into Andrew's dictatorship disguised as a democracy. A normal life we lead indeed.
At night Kenzie, Jenny and I went to a medieval YSA activity at the Linden Building. I really wanted to see the joust but it went later than we were expecting it to, and Kenzie and Jenny really wanted to go and get free caricatures from the PSU party. So Kenzie, Jenny, Andy, Jeremy and myself left the activity a little bit early to go to the PSU... but the line was waaay too long to just get your wristband for the event, so we just took some photos in this free photo booth thing and then made our way back to the car. Jenny and Kenzie did not get their caricatures #fail.
After that super fun party at PSU we all went to my house because neither Andrew nor Jeremy have seen the Bad Lip Reading of High School Musical, so it was really necessary that we showed it to them. Then everyone showed all their favorite videos... and boy are there some weird videos out there. We also played my fave Code Names game (which my team obviously ended up winning) and eventually Steph got home from babysitting... and that's when the night took a straaaaange turn. I guess all you need to know is that the party didn't stop until 3 am, which is actually real insane for me considering I am in bed by 9 pm most nights.
Saturday August 27
Staying up until 3 am really messes me up... I don't know how this can be a regular thing for a majority of college students. I slept in until like 11, only changed into more street looking pajamas, laid across the bears and watched the Get Down with Jenny (the picture of me with the above is from Saturday). Then I got so tired that I took another nap.
I did eventually get out of the house to attempt to get my ZonaZoo shirt with my roommates... turns out we went to late and the doors closed an hour before. This is something that most people would have looked up before walking in the Arizona summer heat, but not us... we are assumers. After that disappointment we all went to Target for a little groceries and to get some caffeine (because seriously y'all 3 am really messed me up).
Since we have been watching the HSM BLR so much, we decided we should watch the regular HSM... it's really hard to watch now that BLR is tattooed into our brain haha, but it makes it all that more hilarious.
After HSM we picked Andy up and then made our way over to Jamie and Samantha's back to school party (even though Andy didn't make the second cut list hahaha we brought him anyway). The party was a great time because there was food, a fire, and a pool. That's really all you need for a good party. I was able to catch up with a few of the people who just returned from their missions who were here our freshman year. At one point in the night Heathens by Twenty-One Pilots was playing and I called all my friends Heathens, and I guess that's the name of our squad now, so I guess you could say we are pretty cool.
On the way home from the party we jammed real hard to some of my favorite jamming songs: It's All Coming Back To Me Now by Celine Dion, Alone by Heart, Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler, All the Small Things by Blink 182 and Year 3000 by the Jonas Brothers. If you ever want me to lose my voice, put these songs on consecutively and it's almost a guarantee. Luckily my throat was only a little bit soar so I healed it with some water and I am able to talk today.
Sunday August 28
Our first Sunday together all as roommates. The 1320 Beezies have a tradition with first Sundays (also last Sundays in some cases) to take a picture of the squad (unfortunately Amanda always went to Will's ward so we never got a first day of church pic when she was our roomie.
So here is a little blast from the past, plus the new and improved 1320 beezies:
August 2013: The Birth of the Beezies
August 2014: The Return of the Beezies
December 2014: The Death of a Beezie
(and by death I mean, Lauren was the first one to move out)
January 2015: A New Beezie
August 2015: A Beezie Abandons The Rest For A Boyfriend
August 2016: Brunette Beezies
Shout out to Jack for taking the photo
The first Sunday after school starts is arguably my favorite Sunday of the year. So many new faces (like seriously I have never seen so many new people move into third ward in my whole time in this ward) and so many new people to meet. We also sang my favorite hymn in sacrament meeting (props to Maddy even though she didn't choose the songs, she was the chorister so she gets all the credit). I taught Relief Society so I was able to spend the first thirty minutes of class going around and making everyone introduce themselves and say something cool about them... there are a lot of cool people this year with lots of weird facts about them. My lesson went pretty swimmingly, and I didn't cry or shake too much so I would say that's a success in my book.
After church we went to go get our ZonaZoo shirts since it was the last day to get them, AND we got a free card for a free 3 finger combo from Cane's (we may or may not have been so excited that we drove across town...).
Church is at 9 am this years, and that 3 am night still is messing with me and my roomies apparently. We all sat down in the living room and within an hour we were all asleep across the room. Shout out to Steph for waking up at one point to take a picture:
Eventually we will be able to adjust to this new schedule, as long as there aren't any more waaay late nights anymore.
This week is the UA vs BYU game and my Canadian cousins are coming down, so it's going to be a party! I am also asserting my Wildcat editor power for this game and this game only, so I will be on the field taking photos, so I am psyched.
Im always here to provide some quality Hymns! (insert emoji girl)
