2016 is going to be a year full of changes and probably some hard moments, but I am ready to take the year by storm.
Saturday December 26
As of Saturday I had 3 trips I had left to do in order to complete my 91AZ15 goal. My family decided to help me out as we decided to hit up Pinetop-Lakeside, St Johns, Springerville, Eager and Clifton. This trip was especially exciting because we got to play in the snow (which we obviously do not often get to do, living in the desert) and we took a trip down my father's memory lane in Springerville/Eager where he spent his teen years.
Pinetop-Lakeside
I didn't take any pictures in St Johns, cause it's #boring
Springerville
My Dad's old house. It was nice knowing that the people who currently live there are U of A fans too.
Eager
We visited my Dad's old high school
My Dad claimed that this side of the mountain never got any real snow, and yet it was snowing like crazy when we were there
Clifton
There were some dogs running around the court house and they attacked McKenzie, it was hilarious
Since Richardson's are such party animals, when we got back to Mesa we invited some Tucson peeps over to have a game night. The party people included: Lauren, Matt, Andrew, Taylor and Natalie. We played Hand & Foot and Up & Down The River.
Sunday December 27
On Christmas I started coming down with a cold, and being cooped up in a car on Saturday wasn't the best thing to make me feel better so the cold really hit on Sunday. EJ was sitting next to me on the entire drive so he unfortunately got caught with the cold as well, so neither of us went to church.
Sunday night we went to Avondale to have dinner with my grandparents. We usually only see this family on Thanksgiving so it was nice to see them outside of our UA/ASU rivalry attire.
Zach arrived home from California Sunday night so I hung out with him for a little bit after dinner, but I wasn't feeling very well so the night was cut short.
Monday December 28
I hung out with Sadie and Zach during the day. We played Dutch Blitz and made things a little bit interesting. We played 3 rounds, whoever got 1st place in a round got 3 points, 2nd place 2 points and 3rd place 1 point. At the end of the three rounds whoever had the least amount of points had to buy the other two drinks at QT. Well I came in 2nd for 2 rounds and 1st for one of them, so I was in the clear. Even though I think she is still the best Dutch Blitz player, Sadie ended up losing and now owes Zach and I some drinks haha, in her words "this is what I get for gambling".
Monday night the three of us went to Jake Kammerer's house for a game night with lots of people (Jake, Zach D, Dalyn, Katey, Kimball, Seth, Brendan, Skylar, Sydni, Sadie, Zach, myself). We played a crazy dice game that stressed me out so freaking much (but it was really fun at the same time), four guys on a couch, and murder in the dark. I always feel like I have no friends outside of "the Fam" in Mesa, so it was nice to spread my wings a little bit and hang out with some old friends, and it turned out to be a lot of fun!
Tuesday December 29
If you are good at elementary math, you would have figured out that after Saturday I had two trips left to do for my goal. Tuesday was dedicated to going to Wellton, Yuma, Somerton and San Luis. My companion for the trip was Zach!
The way I listed the cities above was the order I planned on visiting them, except for the fact that I accidentally missed the exit for Wellton and there is only one exit to get into the city, so that ended up being our last stop of the day.
In Yuma we went to the Territorial Prison. In the museum they had a bunch of prisoner stories, but my personal favorite was a mormon who was arrested for being in a polygamist relationship... classic 1800s mormons.
In Somerton, there really wasn't much to do, but I found a park on maps so I decided to go there. When we parked, I got out of the car and started walking toward some bleachers AND I SAW A BEN'S BELL!!! I WAS SO PSYCHED! I had never seen one in Tucson where they are freaking made, so what are the odds that I would find one in freaking Somerton? I WAS ECSTATIC.
San Luis is 1 mile away from Mexico, but that's just about the most exciting thing about this place.
I didn't snap any pics in Wellton but we went and found a geocache on a golf course.
Wednesday December 30
Alright math genius people, if you followed the blog correctly I only had one trip left, and Wednesday was the day for it. Cities included: Parker, Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City and Kingman. Companions included: Zach and Trevor.
In Parker we walked around a little bit, found a geocache, checked the oil in the car, you know the usual Parker things that people do in Parker.
In Lake Havasu City we went to the London Bridge and explore around it. This city is actual one of my new favorites, I wouldn't mind living here someday!
In Bullhead City we ate lunch and went to the community park to skip some rocks. Although Zach will say otherwise, Trevor won the skipping rocks contest but not without the price of getting mud on his shiny white shoes.
I wanted to end my goal with a bang, so when I saw there was an alpaca farm in Kingman, I was all over it. Unfortunately the tours closed an hour before we got there so we didn't get to interact with them. Luckily though the alapcas came walking towards us by the gate and we got to get some pictures with them. Not quite what I thought my last city would be like, but still awesome. Alpacas are freaking weird.
Now I am going to share some funs statistics that I have calculated about my 91AZ15 goal.
- There were 91 cities/town (duh)
- I took 26 trips to visit all of them
- In total these trips equaled out to be about 6,000 miles
- I had 19 passengers/drivers throughout the trips
- Zachary Walton attended 61 cities
- Stephanie Shaw attended 25 cities
- Trevor Gonzalez attended 17 cities
- McKenzie Richardson attended 17 cities
- EJ Richardson attended 15 cities
- Rory Richardson attended 15 cities
- Pat Richardson attended 13 cities
- Annabeth Seamans attended 12 cities
- Avery Richardson attended 12 cities
- Sadie Johnson attended 7 cities
- Caroline Porter attended 6 cities
- Jay Richardson attended 6 cities
- Andrew Marriott attended 5 cities
- Amanda McCoy attended 4 cities
- Matt McLeish attended 2 cities
- Connor Swensen attended 1 city
- Dakota Marshall attended 1 city
- Megan Riedel attended 1 city
- Susannah Roylance attended 1 city
- 1 ticket administered
- My first trip was to Sahuarita, Nogales and Patagonia with Steph and Annabeth
- It took 10 months and 3 days to complete the goal
Before winter break I was really worried I wouldn't be able to complete my goal before the new year, and if need be I would have extended my deadline to February because that's when I came up with the goal, but I am so happy I was able to finish before 2016! I couldn't have done it without all the people listed above. Especially to Zach's parents who let me crank up the miles on their van to go to a huge chunk of these cities, you guys rock.
On Friday when we got back from our trip I was reeaaallly not feeling well, almost to the point of tears, but I have the greatest boyfriend in the world who brings me NyQuil late at night so I can at least sleep through the night. He's the bomb.com.
Thursday December 31
New Years Ever party fun time.
I hung out with Zach during the day, but I took a NyQuil in the morning so I ended up taking a nap on his couch, I'm a hoot. When I woke up we watched some Shark Tank, got some early dinner at Mod Pizza, bought some fireworks and went over to my house for some pre New Years eve party fun time. My mom made lots of appetizers, we played a frozen matching game with Avery, and watched the NBC New Years Eve special review thing.
Then it was time to party. EJ, Rory, Zach and I went to Fat Cat's for the YSA new years eve party. Last year when we went to Flipside (which is pretty much the same thing as Fat Cat's) we didn't do anything, it was too crowded and the lines were long. This year it was also crowded and the lines were also long but we decided to tough it out and wait in the lines. We played mini golf ( I tied with Zach for 1st) and we bowled (I tied for 2nd with Rory), and we danced a whole lot. We ended up seeing a lot of Tucson people and hung out with them for most of the night, I thought that was kind of funny all the Tucson kids hanging out at the Mesa YSA activity. Sadie and Trev came a little after us so we were never in the same lines together but we did get to hang out with them for a little while.
It ended up being a lot more fun then I thought it would be based on last year's experience, but I am glad we chose to ring in the new year with 500 other sweaty horny mormons.
Around 1 we left Fat Cat's and decided to go to IHOP because we are so crazy fun.
Oh but you know what wasn't a great way to end the year, finding out that my house in Tucson got broken into. So far all we know is that they stole Lauren's TV, my camera lens (an expensive one, I'm crying people), and maybe some of my shoes?... Annabeth said it looked like they were messing around on my side of the room... so that's super comforting.... All I have to say to these people is:
LOL JUST KIDDING. But seriously I am putting a thousand locks on everything.
